On 107/1/3, I submitted my résumé through a job bank to apply for an accounting position at this company. On 1/10, I was notified to report for work on 3/1, so I resigned from my original part-time job. On my first day, 3/5, the internal staff member who was training me told me that, because the company had not yet purchased computer equipment and because the position was newly created, the work responsibilities had not been clearly defined. Therefore, it would be normal for me to have very little to do during my first week. Before leaving work, I asked whether things would still be like this the next day, and was told that the work procedures would be explained to me roughly the following day. On the second day, I was given some materials to read, and the person left their workstation for one or two hours. Near noon, the boss’s wife brought me a salary envelope containing a day and a half’s pay and told me that the company had made other arrangements, so I could leave. I was completely dumbfounded and felt like I had been played. From January to March, I had resigned from my original part-time job and turned down another company that had also wanted me to report for work. If the company did not actually need to fill this position, couldn’t they have told me as soon as possible instead of having me sit around for a day and a half after reporting for work, only to say that the company had made other arrangements? I feel extremely hurt, and now I have to start looking for a job all over again. Does having money give people the right to treat others this way? This was truly irresponsible.
