Pros

1. No need to clock in or out, so you could call it flexible.

2. The salary isn’t stingy, and if there’s a year-end bonus, consider it a lucky break.

3. The company has two cats and a dog; they’re pretty cute.

Does this seem like a happy company so far? Well! I guess it’s happiness with about a one-month expiration date.

Cons

1. The boss is a typical dreamer who will take you flying along with him (or crash together?). He uses the dream of helping stray cats to make animal-loving job seekers think, “Wow, that’s so great and caring.” The company has been established for more than two years but has only one flagship product, while the boss still dreams that sales can double every year. If sales don’t double, it must be someone else’s problem. His own product is supposedly amazing and will supposedly sell like crazy, and then he keeps dreaming about finishing the development of other product lines.

2. This is the first time I’ve seen the boss of a startup repeatedly say he isn’t a second-generation rich kid and built everything from scratch, yet be so careless. Or does the definition of starting from nothing no longer include being hardworking? He says he handles product development, but basically just asks the people below him for their opinions. To put it nicely, he gives them room to contribute—but the decisions that have been made may end up being completely overturned, you know? Then again, he is the decision-maker, so he has the most “sense.”

3. He only trusts people from outside and distrusts the people inside the company. At first, he may act very friendly and trusting, but later, if you aren’t part of his echo chamber (meaning you agree with whatever he says), he’ll start playing the victim and fishing for sympathy. If you still don’t become part of his echo chamber, just wait to be nitpicked over strange things until you resign.

4. What’s permitted for the governor isn’t permitted for the common people: double standards. He does things according to his mood, leaving the people below him at a loss.

In just over two years, quite a few people have left. Maybe everyone who left simply lacked “sense,” or was too brainless to make the company big money with its flagship product after more than two years. Of course, if you can become part of the boss’s echo chamber, this really is a pretty free workplace. If you’re highly confident, you can come give it a try!
