Pros

Pros

None at all!!!

Cons

The interview took place at a restaurant they opened near Civic Boulevard (Grace Restaurant). Before the interview, I had to fill out some forms and take a written test.

It was initially held inside the restaurant, but later they asked me to move to the outdoor seating area. Unexpectedly, it was extremely hot outside, with mosquitoes flying around. There was also a lot of noise from pedestrians and motorcycles. Coming for an interview left me with a very poor impression of the company.

The written test was also ridiculous. They simply handed me something like an IQ test booklet, with questions on geometry, Chinese classics and general knowledge, mathematical word problems, and so on. I have no idea what the purpose of having us take this was???

I spent nearly an hour writing it, which also meant being bitten by mosquitoes outside for nearly an hour.

The HR person who contacted me was actually a pretty nice person.

Let me go back a few days. After I submitted my résumé, the HR guy called to invite me to an interview. During the call, he first explained what I should prepare for the interview. However, I got the feeling that he was juggling several roles, because not long after he finished talking to me, he called again. He opened with, “Hello, may I ask if you are So-and-so? I’d like to invite you to an interview”....... It felt as though he was so busy that he had even called the wrong number...

Now back to the day of the interview. After I finished the written test (that is, the IQ test), I handed it to the HR guy. He corrected it and went over the answers on the spot (did he need to do that in front of the interviewee?). It turned out that the HR guy was actually the marketing person here and was practically a founding employee. He said the boss had not arrived yet, and that we would have to wait until 5:30.

(My reaction was: Huh? So the written test I had just taken was actually just to kill time while waiting specifically for the boss to arrive.)

The second interviewer arrived. She was a young woman. After the interview, I inferred that she was a business heiress—the daughter of mainland Taiwanese businesspeople who had invested in and opened this liquor company. (Interview questions: Introduce yourself; describe your knowledge of different types of alcohol and the tastes of various varieties.)

The boss’s daughter was already late, which made me uncomfortable. Then, during the conversation, it felt as though she was not listening. Do they not understand even the most basic meaning of respect? Aren’t interviewees people too?
