協裕窯業股份有限公司
Pros

1. The salary isn’t bad, and the company doesn’t evade labor or health insurance payments.

2. A provided meal, but the quality of the boxed lunches is very… (Someone on the production line once found an entire strip of plastic in theirs.)

3. Employees receive a cake for their birthdays (the traditional sponge-cake kind).

4. Ever since former employees reported the company for violating the Labor Standards Act, it has obediently granted leave and properly paid overtime.

5. People who aren’t afraid of heat, hard work, or hardship (and have no ambition) can stay on the production line for a long time (the company is extremely short-staffed).

Cons

1. A highly nepotistic traditional company: all the senior managers are family members, so it’s best to find someone powerful to cling to when you join~

2. The working environment in the plant is extremely dirty: dust flies everywhere, and large container trucks frequently enter to load goods, leaving your hair constantly covered in sand and dust.

3. The production-line supervisors are extremely punctual about starting and ending work, but when products have problems, they often pretend nothing happened (while the sales managers are frequently left complaining).

4. The production line is extremely grueling; foreign workers often reach their limit and run away.

5. The older-generation chairwoman is the absolute authority in this company. Anyone she dislikes is told to leave that very day (even if they did nothing wrong).

6. Workplace bullying in the office is severe. There are cliques, even among the small number of employees you can count on your fingers.

7. The production line isn’t much better. A foreign worker once worked 36 hours straight and nearly collapsed from exhaustion. (Meanwhile, the supervisor had no idea and happily went on vacation.)

8. Product quality is very inconsistent. Custom tile colors can differ drastically and still be shipped. After returns, you often see the sales staff come to the production line to argue.

9. Sales rely mostly on distributors, but apparently some distributors completely stopped placing orders and ignored the company, while senior management had no other way to deal with it.

10. The company’s public image: its official website was turned into a gambling site, and they completely failed to deal with it. Truly impressive~
