A subcontractor for X華X信. The pay is calculated by points: if you earn 200 points in a day and your point rate is 4, you’ll receive approximately NT$800 that day. New employees receive a basic monthly salary of NT$27,000 while they are still learning. By the third month, you’ll be asked to go out on assignments and have your pay calculated by points. This benefits the company, but that’s when a whole host of problems begins. You may spend the entire day working until night and still not reach 200 points, earning less than someone holding an advertising sign by the roadside. On top of that, after visiting a large circle of customers every day, you’ll already be exhausted, and then you still have to deal with the company’s handwritten and computer forms, checking out and returning materials, and other tasks, which can take another one or two hours before you can leave work. You also have to work every Saturday. After working for a month, your pay may end up being lower than the government-mandated minimum wage of NT$27,000! When that happens, don’t hesitate—cut your losses and leave as soon as possible. Other costs include buying your own tools, paying your own phone bill, fuel, and traffic tickets, and there is no year-end bonus. Don’t let yourself fall into this trap of heavy work and low pay. All of X華’s subcontractors are the same—remember that!
