Cons

The person in charge of this hotel is from Hong Kong, and the interview was conducted on their behalf by an accountant. During the interview, the accountant made the job sound prestigious and easy, and I was subsequently hired.

The accountant told me to report to work on October 29. On my first day, I waited in the lounge for over an hour before a vice president came to take me to the office. The office was in the basement, and aside from the vice president and the cashier, nobody else worked there. The accountant then rushed over to explain the company’s situation and the job duties, but surprisingly told me I would have to figure out the work on my own, and that they could only hand over the work to me when the cashier had time. The problem was that the accountant who had left had not handed anything over to the cashier either, so I was simply left to fend for myself.

The cashier said that the previous accountant had left very suddenly. I heard that they had been dismissed without severance pay and might file a lawsuit. In the afternoon, the cashier went out, so I started sorting through the trash and documents at my desk. By the time I finished, it was almost the end of the workday, which showed just how disorganized their documents were. Later, the cashier told me to come back to work on November 1. Also, the company was unable to enroll me in labor and health insurance for the day I worked because of problems with its internal procedures. This already violated the Labor Standards Act.

On October 31, at 5:30 p.m., the accountant sent me a text message saying, “The boss thinks you can’t work overtime, so you don’t need to come to work anymore.” I was completely stunned! After that, the accountant disappeared completely, ignoring my messages and calls. It was only after I said I would file a lawsuit that the accountant paid me the wages for that day, but I still was not enrolled in labor and health insurance.

So if you are thinking about interviewing or working for this company, please think it over very carefully!
