The company’s supervisors are not very capable. All they do is criticize and berate their subordinates all day long, creating an extremely poor office atmosphere. Even eating breakfast at your own desk before work starts can be brought up and discussed in a meeting.

The supervisor constantly reports minor issues about subordinates to the general manager to show that they are managing diligently, but the matters raised are basically completely unrelated to work. Many are trivial issues. The supervisor is genuinely incompetent: shipments are sent out incorrectly and their speech lacks logic, yet they push all these mistakes onto subordinates and make themselves appear highly capable in front of their superiors. This is not limited to one particular supervisor; it is the norm among most supervisors at this company. Employee turnover is very high. Sometimes a supervisor drives an employee away so that one of their friends can come in and work there.

The company used to be frequently reported to the labor authorities by employees, but because the owner is a high school classmate of the Hsinchu City mayor, nothing ever comes of the investigations. Even when there is clear evidence, the company still does not get fined.
