Pros

Advantages that don't really count as advantages:

1. No uniform, so there is some freedom in what you wear, but going too far is still not allowed (flip-flops/pajamas). Overall, the environment is rather old-fashioned and dull.

2. There are around 10 people in the Taipei office.

3. The office is very quiet.

Cons

*The company is extremely stingy and constantly emphasizes saving money (even stationery has to be the cheapest available).

*The company's computer equipment is outdated. The desktop computers and headsets often break, along with various other problems.

*Snacks are provided only twice a year (the back-to-work worship ceremony after the Lunar New Year and the Ghost Festival). The snacks purchased are the extremely cheap kind.

*There are many miscellaneous tasks, and rework (double work) is common.

*Overtime is often required, but because the position is under a deemed-duty system, there is no overtime pay.

*You must complete one full year of service to receive the year-end and performance bonuses. Before completing one year, only part of the bonus is given (depending on the boss's impression of you).

*All the coworkers are over 40. There are cliques, and young people are not advised to stay; the older employees are very good at exploiting younger employees.

*The duties of the person on rota are extensive (taking out the trash/sweeping the floor).

*Business trips to the factory in Vietnam may be required, and you have to follow the Vietnamese factory's work schedule. You have to work on Saturdays ^^, with no overtime pay or business-trip allowance.

*There is a tense atmosphere in the office.

*The manager has a two-faced personality.

*The boss is very impatient and sometimes highly emotional. Before things are clarified, the boss may make various demands or start yelling.

*One of the boss's skills: making grand promises (don't believe them—they have never been fulfilled).

*If your performance is good in the first year, you will receive a raise of NT$2,000–3,000; if not, you will receive no raise at all (salary is reviewed once a year).

*The scheduled payday is the 30th, but payment is sometimes delayed (frequently).

*The year-end party is held at a nice restaurant (the kind costing at least NT$3,000 per person), but it takes place on the evening of the last day before Lunar New Year's Eve.

*The year-end and performance bonuses are not paid until the last day before Lunar New Year's Eve (dragged out until the last moment).

*Some coworkers have very bad tempers and rely on their seniority; newcomers are frequently made to bear the brunt of their anger.

*Company dinners and afternoon tea drinks are provided occasionally, about once every three months.

*If you are a fresh graduate with no work experience, the lower your salary expectation, the more likely you are to be hired (around NT$32,000 may give you a chance).

*During the interview, you should convey that you are a very “stable” person; this greatly increases your chances of being hired. The company is very afraid of people leaving.

*There is a NT$3,600 bonus for the Dragon Boat Festival, and a gift box (food) for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

*There is NT$1,600 in birthday cash.

*If the company does not take a trip that year, you will receive a NT$10,000 travel subsidy (paid in July or August).

*The Taipei office has a rice cooker, microwave, small refrigerator, and snack cabinet.

*If the government announces a day off due to a typhoon, you still have to work from home.

If you are considering joining, please think carefully!!!
