When I arrived on time for the interview, there were still candidates being interviewed ahead of me, so they asked me to wait outside. It was over 30°C on a hot day, and waiting under a corrugated metal roof for 20 minutes nearly drove me crazy. The office attached to the corrugated metal factory also had no air conditioning—it was unbearably hot. The supervisor said that our company offered fresh graduates much more than the industry standard, but when I asked, it turned out to be only 24K. It really opened my eyes. When I was offered the job that day, I thought something felt strange, so I told them I would consider it first. After I got home and searched on Google, I discovered that this company had once paid a departing employee’s entire salary in several bags of one-dollar coins. (If you want the details, you can Google it yourself—there’s even more.)
