Read the community guidelinesThere are currently lots of insects in the office, so you can feel very close to nature!
During lunch break, I took a nap, and the boss asked whether my mental state was really that bad,
then said that a senior colleague was rushing a draft and I was actually sleeping.
Context: The senior colleague indeed was not sleeping that day, but they were not working on the draft either!
Moreover, the materials needed for the schedule had already been completed, and the senior colleague even admitted this personally!)
The boss had no idea whether there was actually a project deadline to meet. What was wrong with taking a nap during lunch break?
I answered that, given my physical condition, I really needed a lunch break,
and that I had never dozed off at work and was always willing to stay late for overtime.
I had worked overtime until 10 or 11 p.m. before, showing that although I took a lunch break, I was very willing to work overtime.
(There was no overtime pay anyway—I was already being very responsible!)
But the boss said that he did not want us to work overtime; it was an issue of attitude.
(As mentioned above, there was no project deadline to meet that day at all! Just because the senior colleague did not take a lunch break, did that mean I could not take one?
Besides, before I went to sleep, I glanced over and saw that the senior colleague was scrolling on their phone, not working on the draft. There was no urgent work that day either!)
The boss was truly infuriating!
Then the boss said that I also did not answer the phone or open the door.
The senior colleague had personally told me that, normally, new employees were not expected to answer the phone!
I told the senior colleague that I would open the door, and they said they had not moved all day and happened to want to get up and move around by opening the door.
So I told the boss that I had reached an agreement with the senior colleague.
The boss simply did not care!
P.S. I also would not recommend this place to recent graduates. For three-quarters of each month, you work on scheduled catalogs,
so it is very difficult to build up a portfolio. The main visuals for event merchandise are also mostly done by the boss.
