Pros

The colleagues who aren’t under the boss are all easy to get along with, but you still have to be careful because walls have ears.

Cons

The company makes highly competitive ultra-fine nanoprobes, and shaping the probes properly requires considerable technical skill.

Operators are replaced almost every one or two months, which tells you how the company is run internally.

The office atmosphere is extremely dreary, without any vitality at all, and often makes people wonder whether everyone is in a bad mood.

The boss has a special (ㄋㄩˇ)assistant (ㄖㄣˊ)who is often watching to see whether anyone has some minor report to submit. If you are spotted, you can start packing your things to go home.

The sales manager gives people a very slick (ㄨㄤˋ)-and-(ㄨㄤˋ) impression and often follows the boss around handling matters related to laying off employees.

The company is very unfriendly toward pregnant women. I have already seen pregnant employees who were pressured to resign struggle to hold on until giving birth.

Basically, the company’s products are very profitable, but in reality, you will not receive a share of that money. Having one person handle multiple jobs is the norm at this company. Accounting has to manage materials and inventory, sales has to maintain the scope of the human-resources bank, and operators are probably in the position that most closely sticks to their actual duties.

Pros

1. The company’s interior is very new because it moved here from Taoyuan.

Cons

1. You make probes, and the production line is mainly divided into three sections. There is an exam during the probationary period, and you only get an additional NT$1,000 if you pass. If you fail, you get another chance; if you fail again, you’re let go. Overtime is required. The products are very small, so the work requires good eyesight and steady hands. You have to use a microscope. If you have poor eyesight or astigmatism, don’t consider this job.

2. The salary is very low: the base salary is NT$23,000, and even with allowances it is only around NT$25,000, before labor and health insurance deductions. There are hardly any benefits. HR will explain the salary structure during the interview.

3. You have to bring your own lunch or order a boxed lunch. Motorcycles can be parked wherever there is space, while cars have to compete for roadside parking spaces.

Pros

1. The air conditioning is very cool

2. The colleagues are easy to get along with

3. There is a microwave, rice cooker, water dispenser, and refrigerator

4. A candy and snack cabinet (although the snacks have almost all been offered as part of a ritual)

5. The company’s products have a vision, and currently the company works almost exclusively with major leading manufacturers (both domestic and international)

Cons

1. Going to the restroom is very inconvenient (if you get the chance to borrow the restroom, you’ll understand)

2. Office-area employees clock in when starting work, but work on a responsibility-based system when leaving (you can try applying for overtime, but it’s unclear what will happen)

3. If you take all the leave you are entitled to under labor rights, there is a chance you may be singled out for attention

4. The supervisor has poor communication skills and cannot accurately convey management’s intentions, often resulting in duplicated work; they like to ask everyone to “watch” them think through things before they have figured out how to explain them, wasting a lot of time

5. The supervisor has a poor sense of time and a bad memory. They are often late for appointments they arranged with clients (or vendors) (but are very punctual when the client is a major one), and often need others to remember and review what they previously said. They also frequently assign tasks or hold meetings just before the end of the workday—or even fail to give instructions at all—resulting in being viewed negatively by upper management

6. Upper management has poor emotional control and sometimes bangs on the desk, curses loudly, throws things, kicks things, and so on

7. Workplace sexual harassment (in the form of uncomfortable remarks) sometimes occurs
