What a joke—this is a limited company, after all.
1. It is a one-person operation with no systems; the boss is the system.
2. The louder the boss laughs, the louder he berates people, and he does not know how to read the situation (unless outsiders—clients or business partners—are present).
3. The boss’s wife receives a salary despite not working.
4. The inner circle consists only of the boss and his sycophants.
5. The boss’s friends are extremely inefficient at work. Even when they have not been assigned work outside, they are often difficult to find, and they only make a token effort after work hours.
6. The boss spends all day looking for the same group of friends to eat with and charges the meals to the company.
7. The boss does not understand many things himself but thinks everything is simple. His English is poor enough as it is, and even after being corrected, he still mispronounces things—his pronunciation is worse than “Taiwanese Mandarin”-style English. He thinks that his earnest efforts to learn English make him a role model, but he is completely unreceptive to instruction and therefore makes no progress.
8. His Chinese is also poor, and his ability to express himself is extremely bad. You would not know what his native language normally is.
9. The company is divided into departments, but there is only one so-called supervisor with any authority.
10. They present themselves externally as being honest with clients. Please—they are not. I will leave it at that.
11. Their management and judgment are extremely poor. They insist on forcing employees to proceed with issues the employees have judged to be unsuitable, only to be notified by the client that there is a problem within a day.
12. Even when the company makes money, there is no bonus. As far as I can tell, the only thing you get is being added to the boss’s circle of friends, right?
13. They teach employees nothing and tell them to learn on their own. Since the boss himself cannot do it, he resorts to bullying employees emotionally, calling them stupid and weak, trying to undermine their confidence so they feel incapable of doing anything and do not dare to leave, allowing them to continue being exploited. In reality, many employees are extremely capable—and they all left.
14. There are no overseas training opportunities, so do not be naïve. Whenever anyone goes abroad, it is only the boss himself, and no one knows what he enjoys doing there. When engineers are sent abroad, it is for crappy assignments, not training.
15. Do not believe what the job bank says. There is no such employee benefit. Also, supposedly, the prize for games at the year-end party is a single red NT$100 bill per game—how generous.
16. A technology company that is even more old-fashioned than traditional industries.
17. The promises are bigger than TSMC’s facilities.
18. You will not learn anything here. Do not expect otherwise when the person in charge cannot do it himself. It cannot even serve as a stepping stone to another job, so do not waste your time coming here.
