I received a phone call today.
The other person: [May I ask if this is OOO?]
Me: [Yes.]
The other person: [May I ask if you’re still looking for a job?]
Me: [May I ask who’s calling?]
The other person: [Jinke Dai Co., Ltd.]
Me: [May I ask what position you’re offering?]
The other person: [Didn't you apply to our company?]
Me: [Sorry, I applied to many companies.]
The other person: [Oh, so you just applied everywhere indiscriminately?]
Me: [...]
The other person: [May I ask whether you’re interested in working as a telephone interviewer?]
Me: [Ah, I think I remember now. I must have applied for the administrative assistant position, right?]
The other person: [Yes. I’m asking you now whether you’re interested in working as a telephone interviewer.]
Me: [Sorry, I’m not interested.]
The other person: [Bye-bye.] (Hung up immediately)

The position I applied for was clearly an administrative assistant, and the job duties were supposed to involve only working with Word and Excel. They only called to invite me for an interview after nearly a month. Fortunately, I asked about the detailed job duties during the call, and it turned out the position involved sales. Good thing I asked; otherwise, I would have gone there only to find that the job was different from the administrative position advertised, which would have been a waste of time.

It took about a month after I submitted my résumé before I received a call.
Jin: May I speak with Ms. XXX?
Me: Yes.
Jin: Are you still looking for a job? We’re Jinke Dai Co., Ltd.
Me: Yes.
Jin: We currently have an opening for a telephone interviewer. Would you like to come and give it a try?
Me: (Thinking to myself, I clearly applied for an administrative position...) ...No.
Jin: Bye-bye.
I hadn’t even finished saying the two words “No” before they hung up. Were they really in that much of a hurry???
