Pros

There was nothing in particular that made me feel happy during the interview.

Cons

1. The transportation is inconvenient; it takes another twenty minutes to walk from the nearest MRT station.

2. The company is also difficult to find, and the exterior looks a bit frightening.

3. The interview took place on the third floor, in a place that looked like a conference room. However, when walking up from the first floor, the walls around the staircase were all black, which looked quite eerie...

4. The interviewer gave me a somewhat oppressive feeling during the interview.

Pros

When work ends.

Cons

Overview:

Although newspapers and media all describe this company as a startup, it has been established for five years, so it should no longer be considered new. At the time, the general manager said that the company had received funding from the National Development Fund. However, strangely, the office kept getting larger while the number of employees kept decreasing, and frequently used computer equipment was never replaced or upgraded. Overall, the company has very few systems in place. The company lays people off whenever it wants, and many employees leave before completing a year, resulting in excessive staff turnover.

Salary and benefits:

The salary is average—not particularly high or low, but enough to get by. When I reported for work and signed the contract, the contract did not contain my name at all, nor did it include the salary figure we had originally agreed on. I suspected that I might receive the wrong salary later, and the company did in fact underpay me. The employee stock options, share allocations, and bonuses shown in the digital banking system should be taken with a grain of salt. I remember clearly that the company planned to pay the year-end bonus after the Lunar New Year; fortunately, the company eventually had a change of heart and paid it before Lunar New Year's Eve.

Company equipment:

The computers used by employees are all extremely outdated. The computer systems run only Linux, and only free software can be used. It is perfectly normal for engineers to use Linux, but administrative, design, and mechanical staff have no Windows computers available. A typical company provides each employee with a personal computer and purchases legitimate professional software. However, because many tasks require professional Windows software, many employees bring their own laptops to work. The general manager even asked whether the software on employees' personal computers was pirated. If it was pirated, they were not allowed to connect to the company network and could only use their phones' mobile data connections.

Work environment:

You could come to work if you can overlook the fact that there are cameras everywhere in the company, with the lenses filming from behind the desks. However, when employees came to work the next day, items on their desks would have been moved around or even gone missing. The chairman brings his children to the company during working hours, and they constantly run around and shout. Bringing them after work would be one thing, but bringing children to the company during working hours essentially turns it into a daycare center. Employees have to endure the noise while also working seriously—how can there be any productivity in such an environment?

Workplace atmosphere:

While working at this company, I could not feel any respect for the workplace or for professionalism. During meetings, the general manager frequently failed to show up at the last minute. When employees or supervisors reported to the general manager, he would either look down and scroll on his phone or answer a call and leave the room. The basic courtesy of putting a phone on silent during a meeting was not even observed.
