Various little details typical of Japanese companies
The kind that will drive you crazy
Too many details, and lots of things to remember (Japanese company...)
Graduates of optometry programs start at 32K; certified optician trainees get an additional 2K.
Licensed optometrists get an additional 3K (you must graduate from an optometry program to take the exam).
So if you aren't from the relevant field,
you start out behind everyone else and things will be harder.
You can only request three days off (at most one can be on a weekend), and you have to fight to get leave.
The morning shift requires opening early (no overtime pay).
Coworkers and the store manager are very important; some senior employees can be extremely difficult and unpleasant.
You have to stand all day.
The training system is chaotic, and everyone teaches differently.
It can be stressful sometimes.
There is little room for future advancement (unless you pursue further education).
You have to be extremely, extremely careful about everything (especially customer complaints).
After work, you still have to pay attention to group messages and reply.
When it's busy, you have to calm customers down and deal with unreasonable ones.
They expect us to proactively and actively practice (but then the senior employees won't let us practice and complain that we're too slow—LOL).
There are lots of events.
They expect us to ask questions proactively (but when you ask, they say, “Didn't I already tell you?”).
I heard that everyone gets bullied by the senior employees when they first join.
One senior employee looked at my résumé without permission,
then, while deliberately making things difficult for me, said:
“So this is the kind of attitude you have—that's why you only lasted two months at your previous job?”
I said it was just a part-time job. Do you not understand??
They looked at someone else's résumé without permission and still said something like that.
I told the store manager, but the manager didn't want to deal with it either, haha.
They even led the bullying of new employees—great job.
No one has ever told me that I wasn't serious about my work^^
They just didn't like me and kept targeting me everywhere, that's all.
So self-righteous.
But I heard they were transferred to Shin Kong Mitsukoshi and apparently found it so exhausting that they want to quit.
Congratulations :)
But according to your logic, your work attitude must be the problem if you want to quit, right? :)!
