The boss did not show up for the scheduled interview.
There were six desks in the office but only one employee.
It was also unclear what position that employee held, yet they directly conducted interviews.
They came across as arrogant, and their questioning style was aggressive.
When asked about concerns regarding the company environment, they tried to avoid answering.
There is only that one employee in the company. The interview process alone felt unpleasant—how would it be possible to work together? (The above reflects my personal impressions.)
The company has high turnover, and its vacancies on 104 are continually posted.
They interview people every month, yet the office is never full. What is the situation? I’ll leave it for everyone to think about for themselves.
Two days off per week, with very little overtime required.
1. There are no standard SOPs or internal regulations in the company; everything is decided by the boss. Whenever the boss suddenly wants something done, you must drop whatever else you are working on and handle it immediately. However, the boss has extremely high expectations regarding work performance. Even when a task assigned that morning is followed up with a report of the findings that afternoon, the boss will still criticize it as inefficient.
2. There are no senior colleagues to hand over work or provide guidance. No one teaches you; the boss’s approach is to simply throw problems at employees and expect them to find the answers themselves. You can only blindly feel your way through things and slowly figure them out. But after completing the work, the boss will criticize every decision the employee made, claim that mistakes were made, and conclude that the employee is incompetent.
3. As mentioned above, there is no handover from predecessors, and much of the company’s internal information is unclear. If the boss suddenly asks where something is and the employee answers, “I don’t know,” they will immediately be accused of lacking ambition and having an unenthusiastic attitude.
4. The boss acts on a whim and is extremely inconsistent. The boss often says that employees can freely offer opinions and that the boss is an easygoing person who can accept anything. However, after an employee offers an opinion, the boss will use it to criticize the employee for bringing every little thing to the boss and putting on airs. After that, if the employee stops offering opinions and proceeds cautiously by asking the boss about everything, the boss will criticize them for lacking the ability to think proactively, being unambitious, and being insufficiently proactive.
5. Any verbal promises the boss makes to employees can be withdrawn whenever the boss is in a bad mood or takes a dislike to an employee. For example, the boss originally verbally promised that employees could be up to 10 minutes late, but when dismissing an employee, the boss reneged and claimed that no such arrangement had ever existed, while demanding that the employee return all of the perfect-attendance bonuses the boss had voluntarily paid at the time. The company had also originally allowed the employee to keep the company seals in the office cabinet, but the boss immediately changed their story and claimed that the employee had stolen them, threatening to file a lawsuit. The boss also inexplicably claimed that they had once been a gang leader. (However, the boss has provided no evidence, and I have still not received any court summons to this day, so it appears that the boss was merely making verbal threats and trying to intimidate me.)
6. At one point, I was the only employee left at the company and was simultaneously responsible for five positions. The boss repeatedly said that bonuses would be provided as encouragement, but even on the day I was maliciously dismissed, I never saw the legendary project bonus. I was always paid only a monthly salary of NT$28,000, while severance pay was calculated based on only NT$22,000, and the boss was unwilling to issue a certificate of involuntary separation. (A labor dispute mediation was conducted. After the mediator explained and communicated with the boss, the boss and the boss’s wife finally agreed to calculate it based on NT$25,000 and issue a certificate of involuntary separation. At the same time, under witness, they took back the perfect-attendance bonus that the boss had originally voluntarily given the employee.) At least during my employment, I never once saw the boss issue any performance or project bonuses. Even the perfect-attendance bonus provided under the late-arrival flexibility the boss had promised was taken back. Basically, it is better not to trust this point.
7. I was involved in a car accident on the way back to the office from a construction site and took sick leave for several days. Since I was the only employee left at the company at the time, the boss wanted me to return to work as soon as possible to handle business matters. However, when maliciously dismissing me, the boss repeatedly criticized me over this incident, believing that because I had been in a car accident and taken sick leave, I had forced the boss to support the employee’s work and therefore owed the boss. The company also never applied for labor insurance compensation for me from start to finish. The boss’s wife conveyed the boss’s position that the incident occurred during lunchtime and therefore had nothing to do with the company, and they continued to insist that I had not gone out for work-related reasons. (Because I was initially unable to rest and recover in time after being injured in the accident, I am still undergoing rehabilitation and am even unable to work.)
In summary, everything above is true and is shared only as a reference for job seekers.
P.S.: The boss of this company has multiple companies under their name. Another one is 務X有限公司. Job seekers are strongly advised to carefully verify the details when applying.
Wishing everyone the best of luck in finding employment.
