I applied for a C# Engineer position. The manager interviewing me arrived late in the morning. There is currently only one engineer in Taipei, and they need someone to help take on projects and assist with programming. Although the interview was pleasant, the only engineer in Taipei politely said there was no problem and that they would get back to me, but I was ultimately ghosted and they broke their word.
During the interview, the interviewer handed over a business card to introduce themselves and also poured water for the applicant. The job responsibilities were explained in great detail, the attitude was very good, and the questions asked were also appropriate for what the position required.
After the interview, they proactively said that they would notify me by lunchtime that week or the following week, regardless of whether I was accepted... But I kept waiting and never received any news. It was not until the third week that I emailed the person who had initially contacted me about the interview to ask (this was not the same person who interviewed me). They finally replied, saying that my education and work experience were very good and that I deserved a better job, but because there were many interviewees, they were only notifying me today that I had not been selected.....
I thought, if I hadn't emailed to ask, perhaps they would never have notified me at all... It made me feel very disrespected. If you can't do it, don't promise applicants that you will notify them whether or not they are accepted. This makes people who are holding out hope wait around in vain and waste their time.
