Pros

The office is spacious and clean, with a water dispenser.

Cons

This place is really terrible. I’m a former employee. Graphic designers also have to handle a bunch of tedious administrative tasks and miscellaneous chores, and the company is extremely disrespectful toward design. The family-business owner has absolute power: you make whatever the boss wants. There isn’t even an established design SOP.

Pros

The following is based only on what I saw during the interview:

1. Serious about epidemic prevention (so serious that they asked during the interview whether I had a health examination certificate)

2. The contact/reception staff were polite (there seemed to be an SOP for that)

3. The environment was nice: clean and comfortable, with chairs that were comfortable to sit in

Cons

Interview process:

1. Before the interview, they specifically instructed me to bring a detailed résumé and portfolio, so they asked me for my résumé right at the beginning.

2. Handwritten résumé (it was practically as detailed as a background investigation; looking back, I really didn’t need to write all that for them)

3. Aptitude test & math questions?! (They were basically just for fun.)

4. Interview

I entered a room with an older man who was probably a manager. I began introducing my work, but the other person did not seem to care. I asked about the hardware and software the company used, but he did not answer the questions. You could say he completely did not understand design and did not want to understand it either.

There was only one designer in the entire company, supposedly responsible for things like directories for partner salons. They mentioned that salons were the company’s only distribution channel, so apparently they did not care about online marketing and the like. I really don’t know why they were still looking for someone to manage social media.

After I finished introducing my work, the interviewer started conducting a background investigation. I was completely confused—this had basically nothing to do with the job, right? In the end, he told me the salary was NT$26K + NT$2K perfect-attendance bonus, along with the working hours and so on, then asked whether I had any questions. That was about it.

Thoughts:

It felt like they did not respect design. Although I did not take the job, honestly, after seeing the interviewer’s attitude, I did not want to do it anyway. The interviewer seemed very tired and simply wanted to find someone quickly because the previous person was about to resign. = =

Result:

The next day, they notified me that I had received an offer and told me to go over immediately to fill out the personnel information. I said that my home was too far away and that it was inconvenient since it was already late. He then said they would work together another time. I also replied, “Thanks, I’ll be in touch,” haha.

I don’t know whether they just didn’t want me to go fill out the information the following Monday because they would have to pay me and felt they would be losing money. I was completely dumbfounded.

I’ve seen many very honest comments on this website, which are very helpful for fresh graduates looking for jobs, so I’m leaving a comment too, hoping it can be of some help to everyone :)
