Read the community guidelinesThe company is located in the Far Eastern Plaza building, and the environment is bright and comfortable. At the first interview, there were two HR representatives and the hiring manager. The first 30 minutes consisted of an Excel test, followed by about an hour of being questioned in turn by the three interviewers. In fact, all three were very friendly, and I could tell that they genuinely wanted to learn more about the applicant’s previous experience and background. They did not treat me perfunctorily just because I was applying for a contract position. Since the job description mentioned that a finance-related background was preferred, I confirmed this again during the HR phone interview and the first interview. All three said that a finance background was not absolutely necessary; having one would simply be an advantage because it would be more helpful for future job rotations.
I received notice of the second interview about a week after the first. This time, I interviewed with the department head, the financial director, and the experience could not have been more different from the first interview. The director came in with a sour expression; even with a mask on, it was obvious how unhappy she looked. After a cold greeting, she told me to introduce myself. Her manner of asking questions was ice-cold, as if someone owed her tens of millions, making it seem as though every extra word was a waste of her time. I do not know what she was acting so superior about, and she clearly had not seriously reviewed my résumé. After asking a few perfunctory questions, she asked whether I had a finance-related background or similar work experience. I thought, “Hadn’t we already discussed this during the first interview?” If she already knew that I had no relevant experience, why invite me to a second interview? She spoke through her nose from beginning to end and had a condescending attitude. Does lacking the qualifications you want really give you the right to be so rude to an interviewee? The interview ended after about half an hour, and my impression of the company went from positive to completely negative.
