After the interview, they said I should start work at the beginning of the following month, so it would be easier for them to calculate the pay. They made it sound good, saying that they didn’t like interviewing a bunch of people and then choosing from among them, and that they wouldn’t interview anyone else. They wanted me to come directly to work and try it out, saying that would be the fastest way. They repeatedly confirmed that I would really go, and even asked me to make sure that, once I decided, I wouldn’t interview at other companies. I actually turned down all my other interviews. Unexpectedly, just five days later, they called to say that since things were no longer busy, they didn’t need to hire anyone after all. They completely played me.
