Gender discrimination is severe, with men favored over women. People doing the same work are paid differently, and women’s wages are casually several thousand lower (for operators/packers). Working on Saturdays does not come with overtime pay; they only say it is one extra day’s wages. So no one wants to work on Saturdays. Orders are placed carelessly, and when they cannot be completed, the only response is, “Then speed up.” They dump the orders on us and leave. Also, the sales staff often come into the production department and harass us. They keep coming in to look at who knows what, without asking any questions, just walking around there. They have no understanding of the difficulties faced by our hands-on production department and place orders randomly every time. I suggest having the sales staff complete a few orders themselves so they can see exactly where our difficulties lie; otherwise, there will always be disputes between the sales and production departments.
The sales staff and office personnel are the only ones treated as human; the rest of us are not.
It is unbearably hot, and when we request updated air-conditioning equipment, etc., they just say that this is normal for a sheet-metal factory and that we should endure it and get used to it.
(And it is 29–32°C, while we also have to walk around carrying heavy objects, etc.!)
There are no exterior windows, the air-conditioning is ineffective, and machines are used inside. The unpleasant odors are bad enough, but they also pose health risks…
This job really cannot be done for long…
The employees are cheerful, easy to interact with, and help one another.
People compete to take orders and set arbitrary deadlines, leaving employees unable to finish in time. There are too few people and too much work, and the workload is unevenly distributed. They avoid hiring people to save money. For company renovations, instead of hiring outside workers, they have the company's own employees handle the moving. When the workload is heavy, employees want to work overtime, but the company is reluctant to pay for it, so they can only accept it and leave on time. Company trips are scheduled on employees' days off—I doubt many people would use their days off to travel... Regarding modifications, I don't know what's wrong with the outside designers; they can't even measure dimensions properly. We have to deal with this all day long. Once something has just been completed and shipped, it comes back a few days later to have the dimensions changed... All I can say is that if you want to maintain a normal mindset and save some money, this place is okay. But don't expect benefits or anything like that.
If having a two-day weekend, annual leave, a year-end bonus, and a year-end banquet with a raffle count as advantages...
Indeed... they really don't treat operators like human beings. Employee turnover is high. For the month before the Lunar New Year, you have to work Saturdays, but they won't pay you overtime; instead, they'll add the number of overtime days to the number of days off you take for the New Year holiday.
Pros? There is no such thing. This company has serious problems. Operators are not treated like human beings; only office employees and sales staff are pampered. Operators are treated as disposable. An operator who has worked there for ten years still earns less than the starting salary of a delivery driver joining the company. Asking for a raise is basically impossible. The company’s annual revenue exceeds 100 million, yet it cannot even provide raises or bonuses. The entire factory is covered by surveillance cameras, and the boss even monitors employees remotely from the cloud in mainland China. If you are caught looking at your phone during work hours, you will be humiliated. Even if a family member has an emergency, you will be berated first. They claim the company has a low turnover rate, but as far as I know, from the beginning of this year through September, more than 30 people have left.
Cons? This company itself is the con.
