Pros

Everything is tolerable when you’re being paid a salary.

Cons

Unpaid wages, and the boss’s attitude of “What can you do to me?”—and they still think I’m being too petty?! What kind of world is this?

Pros

The surface-level presentation is done very well.

Cons

There are always issues at work (the company has surrounded itself with a bunch of two-faced people, making it impossible to tell whether those around you are wolves).

For longtime employees who have worked like beasts for over 20 years, there was no apology or goodwill— the company directly declared bankruptcy while owing wages, with no sincerity about paying them.

When asking the boss for the most basic owed compensation, the boss only said, “Is there really any need to be so particular about this????”

Pros

1. The products the company makes have great stories and are very likable (they are all licensed products).

2. During the interview, the interviewer guaranteed the company benefits (gift money for the three major holidays / the company provides snacks from time to time / overtime pay).

3. After joining the company, I discovered that the interviewer was actually the boss’s wife (she is very kind and energetic).

4. The boss is very articulate (he is a very capable salesperson).

5. The company employees get along harmoniously.

6. The environment is comfortable.

7. Whenever a client visits, there are especially many snacks and fruits that day.

8. It is completely a dream job.

9. The supervisor is very kind and was very willing to ask the boss for a raise on my behalf.

Cons

1. It is a family business (family members often disagree and argue directly in front of employees, using profanity and showing no workplace ethics / every decision drags on with no conclusion).

2. The employees who are smiling tigers are all the boss’s trusted aides (the boss is very good at talking and likes to paint a rosy picture).

3. The three major holiday bonuses (for Lunar New Year, there is only a start-of-work red envelope; I never received anything for the Dragon Boat Festival; for the Mid-Autumn Festival, I only discovered that employees who have been there for more than 20 years receive one).

4. You must ask clearly about overtime pay during the interview (only later did I discover that not every department has it).

5. You have to wait very patiently for the payslip.

6. The company has many snacks to eat (but please look carefully at who brought them. A few specific people deliberately bring things they do not like and that are close to expiring to distribute to everyone).

All of the above is honestly not that bad,

But what was truly bad was this:

The boss directly announced that the company was going bankrupt but did not file for closure (I strongly suspect it was because they did not want to be responsible for the debts), registering only a one-year suspension of business with the government (so this company will appear again). They laid off all the employees while owing us unpaid wages, severance pay, and underreported labor and health insurance contributions. They directly transferred the subsidiary to their own people (so there is no money in the boss’s accounts or under their name—but what about the money in their private pockets? Hehe). They told us they had no money to pay us and told us to seek help from the government ourselves.
