Read the community guidelinesIt’s quite nice to get paid every month.
Although it isn’t much, it is money after all.
However, since this is a traditional industry where employees are paid in cash, the owner’s wife sometimes forgets to pay the salaries.
Graphic designers have very little say.
The owner’s wife has been in the advertising industry for over 20 years, yet she does not even know the sizes of paper.
Not only does she lack professional knowledge, she also completely disrespects professional expertise.
When there are no design assignments, she complains that the graphic designers are being paid for doing nothing.
She thinks a graphic designer should finish an A4 design within 30 minutes.
She also often makes the graphic designers do tasks that are not part of their job,
including printing documents, entering data, making phone calls, faxing, and preparing quotations.
She often suspects that employees are slacking off and requires them to write daily reports recording what they did and when.
The number of pages of data entered and the number of faxes sent must also be recorded, and she even complains that the graphic designers send faxes too slowly.
She has a foul mouth, humiliates employees, and engages in physical contact.
(For example, forcefully poking an employee’s arm or temple.)
Employees are required to take turns being on duty and arrive at the office about half an hour to an hour early to clean.
No duty allowance (overtime pay) is provided.
Overtime pay does not comply with the Labor Standards Act.
On non-traditional national holidays (such as February 28 or Labor Day),
employees are required to come to work without being provided overtime pay.
The salaries of graphic design assistants and graphic designers are different, but the work they do is exactly the same.
(In fact, graphic design assistants may even handle more design assignments.)
After working for three months, performing normally, and keeping up with the required progress, a request for a salary adjustment was ignored and met with unreasonable obstacles.
If a new employee does not start at the beginning of the month, their salary is calculated based on the number of days worked,
rather than deducting the daily rate for the days before they started from the monthly salary.
There are no perfect-attendance bonuses, holiday bonuses, or year-end bonuses.
The owner’s wife is stubborn and refuses to listen to opinions; she treats every opinion as talking back.
Her all-purpose catchphrase is: “I’m very unhappy with your attitude.”
(But the employee was merely expressing an opinion normally and did not have a bad attitude.)
In short, she is harsh toward employees and tries to find ways to deduct money from their pay.
The employees are not considered even when the company is making money.
This is not a company worth staying at.
