Pros

- The company is a private residence converted into an office on the first floor.

- Sometimes, when there’s nothing to do in the afternoon, you can even have afternoon tea.

- Perfect attendance bonus of NT$2,000.

- There are additional bonuses for business trips and other assignments.

- The company has a snack bar (don’t drink too much water, or you’ll get into trouble).

- People who pretend to be dumb have the fewest tasks.

- Your whereabouts are monitored at all times during working hours.

- When you encounter issues you can’t handle, the company will provide assistance, whether they involve clients or your own personal matters.

- There is a place where you can lie down during lunch breaks.

- You can learn a lot of technical skills.

On the one hand, you gain technical skills; on the other, you experience workplace ruthlessness to an incredibly exaggerated degree. Moving to a new environment can help you adapt more quickly.

Cons

The main takeaway is that your first impression determines how people see you from then on. If you make a good first impression, you’ll be forgiven for almost anything, because people believe deep down that you’re a good, well-behaved person—even if you make mistakes or don’t do things well, nothing will happen.

By contrast, people who make a bad first impression really are treated worse than dogs. They say they’re observing who is working and who isn’t, but in reality, everything is decided based on first impressions. No matter how much someone with a bad first impression does, people will assume they aren’t working; or, if they do a lot of work, any inevitable mistake will be singled out and magnified.

People with good first impressions can barely do any work, and it doesn’t matter if they do things poorly, because people with bad first impressions will clean up after them and take care of the mess. If the work isn’t done well, it somehow becomes the responsibility of the person with the bad first impression. There is always someone else to take the blame for them.

This environment is heavily dependent on first impressions. Those who make a good impression have few problems, while those who make a bad impression will be nitpicked no matter what they do. The only advantage is that you can quickly learn some things and then leave, but the company will still proactively call your new workplace to talk about your strengths and weaknesses.

Unless you’re really good at slacking off and getting by, you’ll either be treated as manual labor or pushed to resign.

Don’t even think about negotiating for benefits or anything like that. You should be thankful if they don’t deduct money from your salary.
