Pros

1. Employees get a staff discount when purchasing products at Nakamura Bakery.

Cons

1. Violates labor laws: Requires the morning shift to start at 7:00 a.m. and requires employees to arrive at the store at 6:50 a.m. to “prepare in advance.” The period from 6:50 to 7:00 is unpaid, and if you do not comply, they will also deduct from your wages (NT$10 per minute).

2. Does not value employee training: Has an attitude of “the person paying is the boss.” They do not consider training new employees to be expected, believing that you should already know how to do everything before starting work.

(Original wording)

Supervisor: “You came to work today without knowing how to do anything, and I still have to pay you.”

Me: “New employees need training. Isn’t that how everyone does it?”

Supervisor: “Then come to work at 6:50. If you’re late, we’ll deduct it from your pay. Everyone does it that way too.”

Other employees’ acceptance of unreasonable demands encourages the supervisor’s arrogance, leading the supervisor to believe that employees cannot refuse illegal requests.

3. Is extremely nitpicky about employees’ work procedures. (You may consider this a strength, but people have different ways of doing things, and that is not allowed here; the supervisor will keep a close eye on you.)

4. Gives the impression of taking advantage of employees: When customer traffic decreases, they will ask you to “clock out and take a break,” reducing your income.
