This is an old-fashioned family business run according to traditional business ideas. Whenever there is a conflict of opinions, they use their status to intimidate people; otherwise, they will publicly humiliate you in meetings.
If you want to work under this company, you must endure unreasonable treatment or set aside your dignity—for example, having someone spit betel nut juice on your head.
If you don’t want to participate in meaningless company dinners at night, you may still be mocked and told not to prioritize your evening activities.
When you are concentrating on work or counting inventory and are so focused that you don’t hear someone speaking, they may snap at you: “I’m talking to you—can’t you hear me?”
The female owner may also speak to you harshly and sarcastically, with barbed remarks. Things may be thrown on the floor and you may be told to pick them up. Only a slave who can swallow anything for the FAMILY could endure this.
If you can do that, congratulations—you can stay at this company for a long time.
As for salary, it is approximately NT$28,000. With perfect-attendance bonuses and similar additions, it may exceed NT$30,000. That is only at the beginning, though. This position is considered an unprofitable position within the company. Even though the work environment is poor—hot, dirty, and dark—the pay is still lower than other employees’ pay. Even new hires in other departments start at a higher salary than you.
In conclusion, at this company you can definitely learn the meaning of the word “selfish.” They take it for granted that everyone should serve them; if you don’t help them, you are treated as if you deserve the worst.
The company does not care whether you already have work to do. If they tell you to go somewhere, you go. The work simply increases other people’s burden while reducing the FAMILY’s workload.
The company often says not to be so calculating with it, but the company is the most calculating when it comes to its employees.
As long as you work in a profitable department, there is no problem with playing on your phone or chatting during work, or even sleeping on the fourth floor. Even when the employee assigned to duty has something to take care of, they can say nothing and leave it for the next person without reporting it. The next person is then unlucky and has to keep taking over. If you are unwilling, you will be ostracized because the department is the company’s most profitable one.
Finally, after work you are still forced to take the office’s delicate “Lin Daiyu” types by the hand and escort their motorcycles. It is truly speechless.
Finally, even after resigning, be careful—the accountant there may stab you in the back. Be sure to take photos and make recordings to protect your rights.
