1. If you are interviewing for the Sales X department, do not join under any circumstances, because there is a group of useless managers who will not help you handle anything. Whenever something happens, they just make excuses and pass the buck. Oh, right! There are two salespeople (one man and one woman) who are never at their desks all day. They are either in the meeting room, on the way to the meeting room, or out driving together. They come and go together every day, and no one knows where they go.
2. The work never gets finished, and each coworker is more troublesome than the last. One coworker whose English name starts with V speaks very rudely and loves to pull rank. They always dump their work on you. For everything, they just say, “I don’t know; I can’t do it,” and that’s the end of it.
3. There is no overtime pay, and you cannot exchange it for compensatory leave. If you apply for overtime pay, you will be questioned about it; no one will pay any attention if you request compensatory leave. If you want to apply for overtime pay, you have to list all your work and specify exactly what you were doing at every time of day. Even after submitting it, no one will pay attention to you, and you may even be told that you are asking for too much. At that point, your manager will call you in for a meeting and tell you not to apply for overtime pay, promising to compensate you in another way. Those forms of compensation are all empty promises that will never be honored.
4. Your workload will only be piled on indefinitely. When a coworker says they want to resign, that coworker’s workload is reduced and added to someone else’s. When another person resigns, their workload is added to that coworker again. The key point is that the workload on you is never redistributed. Your manager will only paint an unrealistic picture to placate you, and nothing will ever be dealt with.
5. I dreamed that there was a coworker B who loved gossiping about everyone, was very sharp-tongued, and loved to sow discord. They would say one thing to your face and stab you in the back. You absolutely must not question them, or they will find a way to get you pushed out of the company or make things difficult for you.
If you are unlucky enough to join, you may think you have hit the jackpot because no one will bother you. The coworkers may seem nice, but after observing for a while, you will realize that this company absolutely cannot be tolerated. The three festival bonuses amount to NT$1,000 in Far Eastern Department Store vouchers, with no more to come. Oh, right, I dreamed all of the above; I don’t know whether any of it can be verified.
