Pros

Can't think of any yet

Cons

There is a fat cat surnamed Chen (a rat-people department manager) in the Information Department who relies on his older sister, a supervisor in the Administration Department, to hold his position.

Not only is he mediocre, but he only pretends to be capable. Every few years, he threatens to resign, but has never actually left even once.

He once exceeded his authority by accessing other employees' salaries in the database, then brazenly commented on who was or wasn't qualified to receive such a salary.

He is essentially a corporate parasite, yet the business owner remains unmoved. No wonder the company has never been able to improve—it is not without reason.

Pros

1. Clear work assignments: The team consists of six people (including the supervisor): one person inspects live chickens, one inspects carcasses, and three conduct on-site inspections (on the chicken cutting production line) and handle project execution. The project involves submitting supplementary documents for certification. The position I applied for would initially involve on-site inspections and project work.

2. Compensation will be adjusted based on the interview. The posting listed $30,000; I requested $33,000, and the offer was $32,000, showing that the salary is still negotiable.

3. During the interview, they clearly stated that they could not accept illegal practices. However, HR explicitly said that because the company operates an automated chicken slaughterhouse, there is no gray area, so what I was worried about would not happen.

4. There is a parking lot.

5. The offer letter stated that when you first join the company, a mentor will accompany you, explain everything about the company, and help you get up to speed. I thought this was a very thoughtful buddy system.

6. The company has designated clinics for the meal service medical examination, and you can submit the receipt to the company for reimbursement.

Cons

The position applied for was Quality Assurance Specialist (automated chicken slaughterhouse).

1. The scheduled working hours are 08:00–17:00, but QA staff must stay on duty every evening, until as late as 20:00. This is not considered overtime; the shifts are different, with start times of 08:00, 09:00, or 10:00, for eight hours of work. Staff must also rotate weekend duty and come to the company to work overtime every Saturday and Sunday, so there is no true two-day weekend.

2. There are no typhoon days off; employees must work as usual during typhoons (with an $800 allowance). This is because the chickens have already been transported north the previous evening. If they are not slaughtered first thing that morning, they may die of hunger after going without food for too long. Therefore, someone from QA must be on duty every day to inspect the chickens.

3. There are bonuses for the three major holidays (the amount was not specified), as well as performance bonuses of approximately two to three months’ salary per year. However, the actual bonus amount depends entirely on individual performance.

4. HR’s manner of speaking was a little arrogant, but still tolerable. Oddly, although my résumé on the job bank specified that I preferred to be contacted by email, they kept calling, sending text messages, or emailing me as if they were illiterate. They even asked why people apply for jobs but do not answer the phone. (What? How are people supposed to answer while they are at work? If they call back after work, you are off work too? I look for you, you look for me—is this Romeo and Juliet?)

5. The uniform is not provided until after one week of work. On the first day, you must wear semi-formal clothing: a collared top and khaki-colored pants. (If I do not already have those clothes, I would have to spend extra money to buy them first.)
