Read the community guidelinesA company that specializes in ripping people off—cheating contractors out of their money, shortchanging employees on wages, and refusing to reimburse money advanced to purchase materials. If you receive a phone call from the company asking you to interview, please don’t waste your time with an interview. The boss has bipolar disorder. The company already has no money and no work crews willing to take on its projects, yet it continues to participate in bidding for public-sector construction contracts. A company weighed down by heavy bad karma.
They’ve packed up and gone off into the mountains. Nowadays, work crews are hard to find, and no one is that easy to fool anymore.
Small family-run company
(The external office is just a regular home)
I was tricked into going there when I was in university.
The lady on the phone was very polite and even tried to establish a connection by saying she was a senior alumna from my school, which made me let my guard down.
But when I actually went there, I discovered that both the equipment and the office (which was actually just a home) were very old and run-down.
As soon as I arrived, the old male architect sitting inside spent half an hour reminiscing, talking about his past accomplishments and how difficult it had been to get into the architecture department at 淡* back in those days.
Then he started badmouthing former employees, saying they would leave after working for a while.
Later, after I helped with the drawings, I left early because I had something to do after working until near evening.
When I got home, I messaged the aforementioned “senior alumna” on LINE and gave her my account details so they could transfer that day’s wages to me.
But then I was left on read without a reply :) Great—I got freeloaded off, didn’t I?
Did they think that, just because I was a student, there was no way I could ask them for the money? (And they were actually right—I was young and naïve back then. I was such a coward.)
I don't know; I didn't go to the interview.
Recruiting people for interviews is completely like shooting blindly; they probably just compile a list from a job bank and call people one by one. They don't even know who they're inviting to interview, which makes you feel that there is a problem.
