Pros

Absolutely nothing—“0”

Cons

1. They contacted me through the 104 Job Bank and invited me to interview for an “Overseas Sales” position. Two women interviewed me together, one after the other, that day.

2. The office was a sheet-metal building: stuffy, hot, and poorly ventilated, with a very unpleasant atmosphere.

3. The interview process was somewhat “ridiculous.” The first woman was probably the boss’s wife, with eyeliner and all. She was reportedly responsible for the Japanese market. I’m not sure how good her Japanese was, but she handed me a “business email that she had presumably written herself” in English and asked me to interpret it into Chinese on the spot. I took the photocopied document from her and glanced at it, saying, “This is obviously English written by a Taiwanese person”—meaning Chinglish. Her expression immediately changed dramatically.

She probably didn’t even understand what business English was. She wrote English at about a fourth- or fifth-grade elementary-school level and still asked me to translate it. I secretly laughed to myself at the time: “In that moment, I really wanted to burst out laughing.”

4. Later, she called in a “middle-aged woman with disheveled hair” who “wasn’t even wearing lipstick” to interview me.

As soon as I saw her, I instinctively thought she was the boss’s wife. She explained the job details and so on. I asked whether the previous sales employee had left a long time ago. Apparently it had been a few months, and that person hadn’t worked there for long either—less than half a year, it seemed. She then immediately launched into a nonstop criticism of the previous sales employees. One was in their fifties and had poor reactions under pressure and couldn’t communicate on site. Another had been seen by the woman from (1) studying “Korean” during working hours [obviously she meant Japanese]. I was interviewed at a seat by the office entrance, with a view of the right side. The seat of the sales employee they were recruiting happened to be directly in front of the woman from (1). Listening to her criticize so many former employees, I got the picture: extremely high turnover and definitely not a company that treats its employees well. After talking at length, she unexpectedly asked me, “You’re not planning to get married?” These were completely unrelated to the job. I brushed them off at the time. My inner monologue was: “Let me go. I want to escape. This is definitely not a quality company.”

P.S. I remember interviewing there two or three years ago as well. I think the boss conducted the interview, but nothing came of it. Unless you truly can’t find a better job, you might work there for a few months to earn a little money. I guess the pay would only be a little over 20,000 [New Taiwan dollars].

Pros

They never intended to hire anyone for the 5-axis position.

Don't waste your time taking leave to go to the interview—the boss drives a BMW X5.
