A large company. If the company makes a profit, there may be an annual bonus, but it is not guaranteed.

When you join the company, a senior colleague will guide you. That’s about it.

The female manager speaks quite directly. Although at first I didn’t feel that she was being rude,

she sometimes seemed dismissive toward interviewees.

She told me that the work mainly involved handling events, launching new menus, or when a new booth moved in.

It sounded to me like there wouldn’t be much need for overtime, but apparently the design department is the one that most needs to work overtime.

Afterward, she said that I needed to create a test design. However, because my personal interview schedule was packed, I wanted to know when the final hiring decision would be made. So, after a few days, I asked on the job bank platform when I would be informed of the interview result if I completed the design within those two days.

After HR said they would ask on my behalf, they directly sent me a rejection notice some time later, which left me confused and gave me a poor impression.

Looking back, I actually feel fortunate that I didn’t join. It seems like I would have ended up working overtime to death.

The office environment is good, and the atmosphere among colleagues is pleasant.

The boss is great, and there is often food available to eat in the office!

If you can tolerate the following drawbacks, or if you are not applying to that particular department, this really is a great company—one worth staying with until retirement.

The manager of a certain department is quite emotional and often targets people rather than addressing the issue. They even embarrass subordinates in front of everyone, resulting in a poor atmosphere in the department and an extremely high turnover rate. Yet there is no intention whatsoever to reflect on the situation, allowing people to come and go—joining with aspirations about the food and beverage industry, only to leave disappointed.

The company’s overtime policy as explained before employment differs from what it is after joining. It turns out that regular overtime is the norm in that department, so the manager changed the department’s overtime rules without authorization. This is quite令人無言.

The head office is near numerous bus routes and MRT stations, there is some flexibility around working hours, there is cake or an activity at the monthly birthday celebration, standard employee discount prices, a fairly OK office environment, the boss occasionally organizes baseball outings, and there are occasional food tastings.

If you care a lot about the superficial advantages mentioned above, you can skip this.

Some departments at the head office have heavy workloads and a strong culture of working overtime. The managers are neither capable of nor interested in changing the situation, and one of them frequently treats others emotionally.

In short, it is very difficult to learn and grow, achieve a high salary and a sense of accomplishment, and maintain a life outside work here!

They opened by asking: “Have you ever eaten at Dubu House?”

Me: “No” (because I really haven’t been there)

Then they immediately stood up to see me out. Extremely, incredibly rude and disrespectful.
