Read the community guidelinesThe salary is basically fixed at NT$42,500 per month. When there is a staffing shortage, overtime is routinely required—46 hours per month. Gift vouchers and cash gifts are given for the three major holidays and birthdays. Only after completing one year, and then another year, is an annual bonus provided; it is based on the basic salary, and the number of months is small, so do not expect too much. The work is straightforward: driving an oil hydrant truck or fuel tanker to refuel aircraft. Employees who drive to work can park in the parking lot in the fuel tank area. Employees working the morning or middle shift can ask an administrative staff member to buy meals for them. The company provides uniforms and basic equipment. During idle periods, employees can rest in the standby area. There is training during the first one or two days. There is a chance of a salary adjustment every year, but new and existing employees receive different treatment—in other words, existing employees’ salaries are adjusted, but their treatment is equivalent to that of new hires.
1. Employees who commute by scooter all have to squeeze into the scooter parking area at the entrance to the fuel depot. Basically, it is no different from being a refugee camp: you are guaranteed to end up covered in scrapes, and you still have to gamble on whether there will be a parking space.
2. You need to prepare for work half an hour in advance without pay and wait at the entrance to the fuel depot for the staff to assemble and board the vehicle.
3. Fueling operations routinely require working under the sun, in sea breezes, and in rain by the seaside, as well as enduring aircraft noise. There are also operational risks—if anything goes wrong, you will be the one held responsible and dismissed.
4. Meal times are irregular. Except for the morning and middle shifts, everyone has to prepare their own food and bring it to work.
5. Basically, whenever there is a staffing need, employees are forced to work overtime. If you refuse, the shift supervisor will publicly humiliate you.
6. There are cliques among coworkers, and people outside those groups may be ostracized and bullied.
7. The salary calculation is 177 × 8 × 30 = 42,480, meaning holidays are also counted as paid days, but the hourly rate is low and has not kept up with the times.
8. They originally said shift work would begin only after three months, but this may be changed at short notice to starting after two months.
9. If you did not originally have a driver's license and obtain a commercial heavy truck driver's license after joining, no subsidy is provided.
10. The vehicle is under continuous video surveillance throughout working hours. You cannot use your phone when leaving the break room. While fueling, you must stand beside the aircraft the entire time as punishment, and it is also very difficult to use the restroom during fueling.
