Read the community guidelinesBento boxes are provided, so there is lunch to eat. Those working three shifts also get dinner or a late-night meal.
During the application process, they said it was a management trainee position with comprehensive training and evaluation systems, and that the work schedule would be a regular day shift.
After reporting for work, I was thrown onto the production floor to operate machinery with a group of migrant workers. The so-called training consisted of having the line leader teach you how to operate the machines, but the line leader would pass the tasks to the migrant workers, which effectively meant that the migrant workers were teaching you. I have never seen anything so ridiculous.
Smoking is completely prohibited throughout the factory, but the migrant workers and line leader would hide in the restroom to smoke. There had already been a fire before, yet they still dared to sneak cigarettes.
The line leader would also badmouth the management trainees to the assistant manager. I had originally been doing fine on the regular day shift, but was transferred to a three-shift rotation and turned into the line leader’s lackey.
The pay is even more outrageous. The base salary is NT$21,000, which is lower than the statutory minimum wage. You have to rely on a bunch of miscellaneous allowances just to barely reach NT$30,000, and even after adding the shift allowance, it only comes to around NT$33,000. That salary is not even enough to see a doctor, yet they still have the nerve to recruit highly educated people. Wouldn’t it be better to hire a few more migrant workers instead?
The interview process is rigorous, including an intelligence test, aptitude test, and interview with a supervisor.
This position requires signing a five-year contract, the terms of which all favor the employer. For example, if you leave within five years, you must pay a contractual penalty, but no specific amount is stated. Applicants must take note!
