To construct the headquarters building and the Chicony building,
the company recruited many people and brought in many vendors to participate in the bidding and submit quotations, keeping everyone running around in circles.
Working hours are wasted because supervisors are indecisive.
All three interviews were conducted via video.
The office building is very tall and impressive, giving you a sense of prestige. It’s really pleasant to occasionally look out at the scenery during work, although I get to see the night view every day XD
The company offers a high-bonus system. Making it to the third year and receiving the full bonus is very rewarding.
If you can accept overtime and business trips, this really is a company suitable for long-term employment.
The base salary is relatively low. Most companies in the industry have implemented structural salary adjustments, but Chicony has not, so the first two years are relatively difficult and you have to rely on overtime. However, overtime must be reported in advance, and you often have to submit a separate application, which is very troublesome.
In Taiwan, overtime is routine, but overtime cannot be reported when traveling to overseas factories. There are a lot of problems at the factories, and if you end up working very late because you want to return to Taiwan sooner, it feels like a real loss.
1. The company has a cafeteria (but the food is awful, especially the rice at dinner—absolutely do not order it; it will clear out both your bowels and your stomach), as well as a small meal allowance (NT$40 for lunch, but it can only be used for the buffet section, and you have to order more than NT$55).
2. Working overtime for one hour on a national holiday earns you eight hours’ worth of pay.
3. You can work up to 46 hours of overtime; anything beyond that is all converted into compensatory leave.
