Pros

M4 drafting personnel

First fill in the information, followed by some simple questions and answers, then the supervisor directly gives a PPT presentation.

Overall, there isn't much pressure. Just listen carefully. In summary, first see whether I want to do it, then submit it for review and wait for notification.

Cons

Taishuan recruits using the name of Marketech. They say the benefits and salary are no different, but honestly, who would believe that?

They directly require overtime without a word—46 hours in a single month, fully maxed out.

I gave it an average rating because, aside from being required to work the maximum overtime, everything else was still acceptable.

### Personally Perceived Advantages (Mㄌㄧㄡˇ)

#### 1. Supervisors’ management style is not overly bureaucratic

Based on my personal work experience, supervisors’ management style is relatively non-bureaucratic. Not every matter at work necessarily requires requests for approval through multiple layers. As long as assigned tasks can be completed, there is usually a certain degree of flexibility in how they are carried out.

#### 2. Greater autonomy and room for independent initiative

There is a fairly high degree of autonomy at work. Many matters can be arranged, organized, and advanced according to one’s own approach. For people who prefer working independently and dislike excessive management, this is an advantage.

However, the actual degree of freedom is still affected by the worksite, PM, client, and nature of the project. The work atmosphere and management style may vary significantly between worksites, so the experience at a single worksite should not be taken as representative of the company as a whole.

#### 3. The bonus system is somewhat attractive, but linked to unit performance

In addition to fixed salary, the company also provides year-end and other bonuses. Based on my understanding during my employment, the year-end bonus could be around two months’ salary, but the actual amount still varies depending on the unit, performance, and the company’s operating conditions that year.

In addition, the company also has a bonus informally referred to as something like the “middle-of-the-middle” bonus, but it is not exactly the same for every unit or every year. Whether it is paid and how much it amounts to still depends on factors such as whether the relevant unit is profitable and the project’s performance.

Cons

### Personal Employment Experience and Advice for Job Seekers

The following content is based on my actual experience and observations during my employment, and is provided as a reference for applicants evaluating the work environment and preparing for interviews. Management styles may vary between projects, worksites, and supervisors, so I still recommend proactively confirming the actual situation during the interview.

#### 1. Worksite environments and office resources vary considerably

Working conditions may differ significantly between worksites. Based on my personal experience, some work locations may not have a complete, permanent office space. Basic conditions such as air conditioning, company internet, drinking water, and parking may also vary depending on the site situation. Some resources may need to be accessed through facilities provided by the client, or handled by employees themselves.

Therefore, if the position involves working at a plant or on an engineering project, do not only confirm the company address during the interview. Ask directly about the “actual work location” and basic working conditions such as office space, internet, parking, and drinking water.

#### 2. You may be reassigned to another worksite after a project ends

Engineering projects are phased. After a project ends or staffing needs change, employees may be assigned to other worksites.

During the interview, confirm the areas where you may be assigned in the future, how transportation and parking expenses are handled, whether transportation subsidies are available, and how staffing is arranged after the project ends. If commuting distance and stability of the work location are important to you, this is especially important to confirm in advance.

#### 3. Project staffing may be relatively lean

Some projects have relatively lean staffing, and the actual duties may not be limited to the items listed in the job title.

For document-control positions, for example, responsibilities may include not only document management but also billing applications, progress tracking, meeting minutes, administrative work related to procurement or subcontracting, and even assisting with on-site progress checks and supervision.

Therefore, during the interview, do not ask only about the job title. Confirm directly: “What duties does this position actually handle? Which tasks are shared with other people? Which tasks need to be completed independently?”

#### 4. Information about project transfers may sometimes require proactive follow-up

I have encountered a situation in which I was asked to transfer to another worksite after a project ended, but at first I had not yet received complete information about the reporting date, meeting location, contact person, access control, parking, and other details. Formal documents and subsequent arrangements also required ongoing follow-up and confirmation on my part.

If the position may involve transfers between worksites, ask in advance whether the company has standard procedures for transfers, reporting, and handovers, and how far in advance such information is usually provided.

#### 5. It is advisable to keep written records of important work matters

During my employment, some work assignments and staffing arrangements were communicated verbally.

For important matters involving the scope of work, allocation of responsibilities, transfers, reporting dates, project schedules, staffing, or expenses, I recommend following up through email or another traceable method again

#### 6. If promotion and long-term development matter to you, confirm them carefully during the interview

Based on my observations during my employment, personnel and position turnover in some units is not high. Actual promotion and development opportunities may also be affected by the unit’s organizational structure, staffing, supervisors’ arrangements, and available positions. Therefore, if your job-search goal is to obtain a clear promotion, advancement in rank, or management-track development in the short term, do not ask only whether there is a “promotion system” during the interview. Instead, further confirm the actual promotion requirements, recent personnel movement and role changes, and whether there is a clear career-development path.

In addition, being highly capable and taking on many responsibilities does not necessarily mean that your position or development opportunities will increase at the same pace. In practice, they still depend considerably on the unit, supervisor, and staffing needs at the time. Therefore, people with clear promotion ambitions or who hope to advance quickly should evaluate before joining whether the unit matches their career plans.

Pros

At least they comply with labor laws

Cons

Be careful not to have any issues with HR.

Because she smiles at you in person,

then turns around and badmouths you.

And the moment you leave or hang up the phone,

she immediately turns around and starts gossiping about people.

The supervisor also says on the surface that they want to understand your thoughts,

but when you tell them, they say you have too many opinions.

Excuse me???

Personality split?

Anyway, this company...

if you have connections, you get to coast through your days,

but if you don't have connections, you have a miserable time.

The supervisors all act like they are emperors,

there's no way to communicate,

no way to communicate,

no way to communicate.

It's important, so it needs to be said three times.

Pros

M5 Engineering Division

Position: Engineer

Responsibilities: Site supervision, quantity takeoffs, contractor management, progress valuation, converting quotations into negotiated prices, cost estimation, clarifying design drawings

1. No clocking in required

2. Company mobile phone, company laptop, and company vehicle available for use

3. Overtime is always paid, calculated according to the Labor Standards Act

4. Fully implements the one fixed day off and one flexible rest day policy; overtime worked on statutory rest days is compensated hour-for-hour

5. Petty cash is available for necessary site items and stationery; expenses can be submitted for reimbursement

6. Transfers include full subsidies for fuel and high-speed rail, as well as an out-of-town allowance

7. The company has no engineering culture: drinking, smoking, betel nut chewing, gambling, and hostess clubs—it does not feel like an engineering company

Cons

1. Engineering is business-oriented. Sales managers recklessly quote low prices to win projects; if execution is unworkable or loses money, it is all considered the engineering PM’s fault.

2. Engineers provide one-stop service and oversee multiple systems at once. Regardless of whether you know how to do something, you are expected to handle it, and sometimes you also have to take on occupational safety duties.

3. “One-stop service” means negotiating contractor quotations, clarifying schematic drawings produced by the Design Department, taking responsibility when the Procurement Department purchases the wrong materials, and executing site engineering work.

4. A PM may be responsible for multiple plants alone. If there is no staff underneath you, you do everything yourself, along with tasks such as cost estimation. When a project succeeds, the sales manager gets the credit; when it fails, it is because you, the PM, estimated costs poorly or managed poorly.

5. As-built documents, submission documents, quotation and negotiation documents, quality-control documents, drawing documents, and even occupational safety documents are all your responsibility.

6. The process for paying contractors is excessively lengthy, and payments are withheld for a long time. Sometimes you are even deceived into starting work without being given a PO; when problems arise, it is also the engineer’s responsibility.

7. There are many “royal contractors” who are difficult to manage. No matter how poorly they perform, they still have to be paid. If the owner cannot accept the work and refuses to pay, you are the one who has to write the report.

8. The year-end bonus is not substantial, and neither are the mid-year bonuses.

9. The company dormitories are terrible, and two people share one room, unless it is a relatively better project dormitory—that is, one paid for with project funds.

10. There is a charge to stay in the company dormitory, and utilities also cost money. The longer your seniority, the more you are charged.

I went to the interview four times. The first time was at the headquarters, the second time at a construction site in Taoyuan, and the third time, because they said the supervisor was returning from southern Taiwan, we sat on the ground and interviewed in the smoking area outside the first-floor lobby of Taipei Main Station..... Then I never heard back from them at all. The fourth time, they called me again to ask me to come for an interview, and I directly told them, “I’ve already gone so many times, and you’re still asking me to come.......” Recently, they called again and asked me to go for an interview......What is going on?? Are they playing with me??

Pros

The company is fairly stable and large enough.

Everyone is easy to get along with.

Cons

The pay is not high. The warehouse is severely understaffed, yet it is judged to have sufficient manpower.

Even managers from other departments can't stand to watch.

Cons

I was notified by HR about an interview, but during the interview they said they wanted to hire a local person. My address was clearly included on my résumé, yet they still wasted my time and money traveling from out of town for the interview.
