Pros

Pros: Couldn't find any

Cons

Cons: Too numerous to list

1. Equipment engineers are treated like dogs—dogs ranked even lower than operators. If you're considering applying for an equipment position, don't come. Even the guard's pet dogs have higher status than you; newly hired process engineers barely count as human. The equipment team is perpetually understaffed because the work is brutally demanding. The promised four days on, two days off always turns into five on, one off, and it's still 12-hour shift work.

2. The equipment situation is utterly terrible. Supervisors spend every day figuring out how to build in-house machines and how to cut costs. When equipment fails, they first blame the engineer on duty, without considering why equipment can never obtain the spare parts that you big shots purchased. The in-house machines have an abysmal uptime rate, and work orders are being opened for repairs every day.

3. The sun is blazing hot; everyone has to fend for themselves. Training is worthless—if you don't know how to do something, it's your own damn fault. Equipment turnover is as high as that at [company name redacted], but the pay is even lower. The cushy positions have long been monopolized by entrenched employees. The office is full of people with deputy-manager titles only; whenever problems arise, they push them off, evade responsibility, dodge, and disappear. At 9:00 AM sharp, a crowd of office staff rushes to gather in the restroom. Every time there's a break, the rush to the restroom makes you wonder whether there's an outbreak of food poisoning or some contagious disease inside the company.

4. The process engineers in a certain department are damn good at slacking off. Equipment has to solve the product yield problems; equipment has to solve any product problems; equipment even has to make the product fixtures for you. Whenever there's a problem, they say, "I don't know how." They completely ignore training, and at exactly 5:00 PM they're ready to leave the company from the parking lot. The other process engineers either shift the blame or play dumb and pretend nothing is happening. From start to finish, everything is equipment's fault—it is always "their" fault.

5. The operators' authority is greater than your boss's. There is takeout and delivery food every day. When there's a problem with a machine, they play dumb and pretend it wasn't them. Damn, are you kidding me? If nobody handled it, the machine and equipment would break down. If you didn't tell me, I'd think the plant was haunted.

6. The company meals are among the worst I've ever eaten. Even more pathetic is that you still have to pay 300 dollars every month to buy the lousy company meals they provide.

Pros

1. The company provides lunch and dinner; employees pay a self-contribution of NT$300, with no other costs.

Cons

1. The company created its own “dedication rate” system: the later you stay at the company or the more often you come in on holidays, the higher your performance rating. The entire company is just putting on an act.

2. On typhoon days off, attendance is called and consolidated for the boss. Employees are semi-forced to work: those who come in receive NT$500, while those who do not have their performance rating deducted.

3. The sales department receives neither overtime pay nor compensatory leave. Staying until 8 p.m. is the norm, and leaving early will attract scrutiny. Even when there is nothing to do, employees have to stay and pretend to work.

4. There are far too many nonsensical and abnormal reports. Numbers that can be looked up in the system must be compiled, followed by two hours spent reading them aloud to supervisors in a meeting.

5. The company loves holding meetings during employees’ off-hours, leaving no time to eat before the meetings.

6. Sales staff are monitored by GPS; they must clock in and report both their arrival at and departure from each client’s location.

7. Bureaucracy and infighting are severe within the company. If you align yourself with the right vice president, you go to heaven; if you are capable, you will have more work than you can ever finish.

8. This is a company where bad money drives out good. If you want to apply for a sales position and have a fresh liver to spare, you are welcome to come experience it.

Pros

None

Cons

HR called first to schedule an afternoon interview. I said that was too late and hoped for a morning slot. HR said they would ask the supervisor and notify me later, and would also send a form for me to complete and return. However, I never received any notification. On the morning of the scheduled interview, HR called and asked, "Wasn't there supposed to be an interview?" In the end, it was rescheduled for the following morning, and the form was sent as well. During the interview the next day, the hiring manager said, "I have to go to Taipei for a class shortly," and left after only a few minutes without saying anything else. The other interviewers could not explain the hiring department's current situation at all, and they did not say when I would be notified after the interview. A few days later, the job posting was updated, but I still received no notification. They simply do not respect the interviewer's time and effort.
