Pros

Freedom

Cons

No three traditional holiday bonuses, employee trips, overtime pay, or birthday gifts.

Year-end performance reviews are based on whether you worked overtime; in the worst cases, they will tell you to leave before the New Year.

Work ends at 6:00 p.m., but you may be notified at 5:30 p.m. about a meeting at 6:30 p.m. that runs until 8:00 p.m., with no overtime pay or compensatory time off.

There is no business-trip allowance for trips to mainland China. Workdays run from Monday to Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. On Sundays, you visit companies, still without overtime pay or compensatory time off.

The boss smokes during meetings.

Money from the employee welfare committee is used to hold barbecues, year-end parties, and spring banquets to reward the boss’s own relatives and friends.

Taking leave is made difficult.

Employees are required to work on typhoon days off.

During power outages, employees are required to remain on standby at the company for two hours, which does not count as working time; the hours must be made up after 6:00 p.m.

When flexible working hours fall on a Saturday, employees are mandatorily charged annual leave; those without annual leave have their pay deducted.

Employees must make their own way to the high-speed rail station for business trips.

Pros

The boss is very good at painting grand visions.

Cons

They often say that the company is going to shut down and stop operating. This is something they say frequently, making employees feel that simply having a job today is already a gain, while whether the company will still exist tomorrow is a big question. It feels like trying to survive from one day to the next.

The employee turnover rate is extremely high. The boss tells you that the company’s performance is poor, and you may be laid off regardless of your seniority.

Pros

1. The boss is 邱X庭, and he is very good at drawing abstract tigers and orchids, making you feel that the company is great.

2. There are no bonuses for the three major holidays; the year-end bonus depends on whether you have been laid off, so you don't need to worry about company performance affecting your bonus. It's very hassle-free.

3. There are no other benefits at all, so you can focus on working.

4. Anything the company can push onto you, it will push to the extreme. There's no need to worry about being pushed around, because it definitely will happen.

5. If you want to do some volunteer work while you're still alive, this is a great place to cultivate your body and mind.

6. The boss used to sell beef, so you can ask him about beef-related knowledge.

Cons

1. The tiger-and-orchid drawings the boss made have never come true—not even one of them.

2. Although the company sells LED lighting, the inside of the company is exceptionally dark.

None

Cons

A company notorious in the industry for lacking integrity. If you want to work there, ask people in the industry first; the turnover rate is high and there are a host of internal problems.

Basic salary, with no meal allowance whatsoever; even meals during overtime must be covered personally. Everything else follows the Labor Standards Act. People who have encountered or worked there said that the turnover rate is high.

Pros

Most colleagues are easy to get along with.

Cons

It is a family business, and basically all the people in the company are relatives and close associates of the owners, with very few outsiders.

There is overtime every day, with no overtime pay. The company says the work is under a “responsibility system.” Even when you actually work overtime on holidays, you are strongly urged to take compensatory leave instead of being paid overtime. Current working hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. When you want to leave at the end of the workday, you still have to report to your supervisor first. They will ask about your work progress and require you to finish everything before leaving. Meetings of all sizes take up at least half of every day, and you generally cannot leave work before at least 7:30 p.m.

A welfare fee is deducted every month, but there are no gifts or bonuses for the three major festivals, birthday bonuses, or Lunar New Year start-of-work red envelopes. The only events are a Mid-Autumn barbecue and the year-end party, but the attendees are basically all the boss’s relatives and friends.

Those who cannot accommodate working late into the night on weekdays are likely to be singled out and questioned.

The employee turnover rate is extremely high.

Due to understaffing, one person often has the workload of at least two or three people. If you cannot finish it, the boss will only think that you have no performance.

All current process-management methods and related practices use management methods from mainland China.

Oh, and flexible make-up workdays always result in annual leave being deducted; those without annual leave must take personal leave.

In short, think it over very carefully—again and again—before joining.

Pros

Nothing in particular.

Cons

During the interview, I first waited in the meeting room for twenty minutes. Then someone came in and gave me a Chinese-to-English translation test. Twenty minutes after I handed it in, a male employee came in to conduct the interview. He started rambling about all sorts of things, including how large the company was, and finally hinted that they would rather find someone with experience. The whole interview lasted nearly two hours, and in the end, there was no response...

After reading the replies from the two people above, I’m glad I didn’t join this company back then...
