I applied for a system analyst position and received an assignment.
The task was to prepare SA/SD documents for two systems, and the requirements themselves also had issues.
If I followed those requirements as written, I would definitely be severely criticized by the users. I judged that the other party did not have the capability to do the work.
I estimated that even doing a typical job properly would take several weeks, so I refused to do this kind of work for free.
The other party later said that they wanted to understand:
- The analysis and design of a single application system
- The analysis and design involved in integrating different application systems
- Possible interactions during the analysis and design process
I believe they were not hiring for this position, but looking for someone to demonstrate how to do the work for free.
It felt terrible.
The entire company is a complete mess, lacking middle managers, while senior management doesn’t understand the work. No one evaluates the engineers’ performance, so engineers can easily put on an act and claim how long it will take to finish a program, when in fact they are just browsing the internet aimlessly.
Before the IPO, they would bluff about giving out shares, but in the end they would ask you to buy them at a price higher than the market rate.
The supervisor is understanding and easy to communicate with.
They seemed willing to hire, but couldn’t offer competitive salary terms. HR was evasive, the equipment was clearly inadequate, and staffing was insufficient. In the end, they said they would follow up, but there was still no response—a waste of time.
The company has already gone public and claims that employees can receive dividends in the form of shares.
1. The job responsibilities are not clearly defined. It was explicitly stated that overtime is required, but overtime pay may not be claimed.
2. The HR manager clearly stated that the job responsibilities may be adjusted at any time and expects employees not to object.
A suitable place to hone your skills
The boss seems to be merely hyping up the company; all the goals are centered on an IPO, and aside from the IPO, there seems to be no planning for the future at all
The product has no direction—one moment it says east, the next west. The company is chaotic, with large-scale layoffs before the end of the year.
Randomly hires people for no reason, then randomly lays them off; all the veterans leave, all the rookies suffer, and the company loses everything.
The company is not profitable, the atmosphere is poor, there has been a large number of resignations, and at the end of last year it rushed to lay off a large number of employees before paying out year-end bonuses.
