The people in the Sales and Marketing departments are treated as disposable—I’ve lost count of how many rounds of turnover they’ve gone through. Everyone in the other departments is deeply entrenched, and basically, if they can dodge responsibility, they will. When people elsewhere talk about stability, they’re referring only to these departments. But the people in these departments seem likely to stay until retirement, so you can imagine how great the disparity is. Even though the company is small, they can still form little cliques.
