Pros

A large on-site company located in the Hukou Industrial Park. The company environment is quite nice and clean, the cafeteria is very large, and the overall quality of the company’s colleagues is also quite good. There is often afternoon tea provided at meetings that you can enjoy.

Cons

1. During the interview, they told the applicant that a colleague who was pregnant had gone home to await childbirth and probably would not return to work afterward, asking the applicant to wait安心 for conversion to a permanent position.

2. After recruiting someone to work, they not only failed to arrange a seat properly, but were also very slow to put other employee-related company settings in place. They did not even know at first how the duties of this position were divided.

3. The supervisor would occasionally come by the on-site company for a walk-through and then judge that employees’ efficiency still did not meet expectations, resulting in other people’s duties being taken away. The transfer was extremely sudden; it was not mentioned on the job website or during the interview. They simply told the person to try to cooperate. If one cannot cooperate, does that amount to involuntary resignation?

4. Their story kept changing. At first they said that if the headquarters could not accommodate me, there was a position in another unit of the on-site company, and they would discuss with that unit’s supervisor whether I could be transferred there. Later they said it was possible, but then called again a little while afterward to say it was not. They spent an entire afternoon dealing with these matters. I have really never seen anything so inconsistent.

5. Communication between supervisors was poor. They wanted to transfer me from my original position to interview in Hsinchu City, but had not communicated with or informed the supervisor of the new work unit. I had to stand at the entrance to the company floor and wait for someone passing by to help me scan my access card before I could enter.

5. They said they would discuss it with Human Resources and then inform me of the resignation process. Unexpectedly, the supervisor first arbitrarily told the applicant, based on their own will, whether I could submit my resignation by email. When I said this was inconvenient, they sent a message apologizing and saying they did not understand the situation. It caused discomfort, and they were sorry. Shouldn’t they have clarified things before notifying someone else? This shows that they fundamentally lack awareness regarding personnel management.

6. I was already a contracted employee of the company, yet even when transferring my work location, I still had to wait for notification like other applicants and renegotiate my salary.

7. One morning I felt unwell and thought I could take leave and leave at lunchtime. However, a senior colleague told me to wait, confirm that the company’s remote-work settings had been properly configured, and then take the computer home. Thinking about it now makes me angrier and angrier. I was already feeling unwell, yet they still made me stay there. Later, after returning home, I tested positive for COVID. It was that senior colleague who told me to continue handling matters and wait for the settings at the company. Who would be responsible for any risks and repercussions caused by that? Everything was not finished until 4 p.m. Are other people’s discomforts all fake? Are other people’s children somehow expendable? It was already 4 p.m.—what leave was I supposed to take, and what home was I supposed to return to?

8. Looking on the bright side, the on-site employees have an existing sense of camaraderie, so if something happens, they are actually quite friendly. But if you are not part of their circle, things can remain superficially harmonious: they say you are welcome to ask questions, but later seem to wonder why you are still asking questions. (Emails had to CC everyone, and if you made a mistake, you would be called in for instruction—could I really not ask? Besides, I spent the entire first month handling pointless tasks or working without anyone to train me, so the actual working period was probably only a little over two months.) As soon as the resignation process was completed, I was kicked out of the company group.

9. Looking back now, apart from the on-site company’s environment and the friendly attitude of a few people, it really was not a particularly happy work experience. They even included a contract when I left stating that I would not speak negatively about the company online. It was truly laughable.
