#Restaurant under the Victoria Group
Advice for anyone considering working at this restaurant:
Although this restaurant is an independently operated location under the group, based on my experience working there, I felt that there was hardly any structure at all. Everything was decided by the kitchen supervisor. The kitchen supervisor had a bad temper, and the atmosphere involved forming cliques and creating divisions. I also witnessed new employees being isolated and constantly scolded after starting work there (perhaps because they did not have the supervisor’s support, but I felt sorry for the newcomers...). As a result, new employees could not stay for long.
The most outrageous thing was seeing the kitchen supervisor hit a front-of-house part-time employee with a plastic strip. Although it was supposedly horseplay, seeing the red marks on the other person’s body was terrifying. Yet no one stepped in to stop it...
Before the Lunar New Year, I needed to return to southern Taiwan, so I requested one month of leave. The supervisor was unhappy and squeezed my hand during the conversation. I did not think much of it at the time, but a bruise appeared after I got home. My boyfriend was furious when he saw it (he was the one who introduced me to the job, and he had worked there before). In the end, while I was on leave, I took the opportunity to say that I would not be returning. I am relieved to have left. There are actually many other good jobs out there, so I urge everyone to think carefully before submitting an application 😱
