Pros

In early August, I went north to Shun Kang for an interview arranged through 104 for a Taipei shipping supervisor position.

It was only during the on-site interview that they asked whether I was willing to be assigned overseas to Cambodia.

They said I would be helping at a contract manufacturing factory in Cambodia, serving as a supervisor leading mainland Chinese and Cambodian employees.

Only after arriving in Cambodia did I find out that I was actually expected to work as an assistant. The other senior personnel—for example, the general affairs, production control, shipping, and production department supervisors—were all Chinese. It was, completely and entirely, a Chinese-invested enterprise.

Cons

OFFER: USD 2,700

They did not enroll you in Taiwan’s labor and health insurance. They said they would give you nearly USD 200 so that you could decide for yourself whether to enroll in labor insurance or not.

Anyone who knows how the calculation works knows that the actual take-home pay is only a little over NT$60,000.

Three airline tickets per year. They said this was because there were too many mainland Chinese employees, but in reality they only took on simple, low-priced orders.

Therefore, they could only reduce costs by cutting labor costs.

There is one factory each at 28K and 46K on National Route 3 in Cambodia. In early October, a strike occurred at the 46K site. (You can search for “Cambodia + TARAL + strike” to learn the details.) After the strike, the factory failed an inspection, and I was falsely accused by a group of Chinese employees of sleeping and drinking at work. I arrived in Cambodia in mid-August and returned to Taiwan on October 10.

Moreover, the middle and senior managers there really like using PUA tactics, treating people as if they are idiots who cannot understand what is going on. If you are still interested, you can go and try it yourself.
