Pros

The company places strong emphasis on R&D. Locally, in Lukang, it is considered to have fairly good benefits... The company’s Facebook page has photos of snacks, drinks, and afternoon tea provided by the company.

Cons

The boss is very amiable. The company is looking for someone who, after long-term training, can independently go to Europe and the United States to compete with large companies and other companies in the same industry for major orders. Strong language skills are required! The role also involves conducting market research and analysis.

Before the interview, you need to complete a two-page test, including questions on translation, email replies, trade terms, and cost calculations. The other interviewer asked very sharp questions, so applicants are advised to prepare thoroughly!

Pros

The only advantage is that the meals are good.

Cons

1. The position described in the interview did not match the actual job. I applied for a purchasing assistant position, but was first sent to the site for training. Right from the start, I was put to the test by sorting out defective products. The site was dirty and messy, and even toilet paper and hand soap were not provided; we had to bring our own. During the training, I asked and only then found out that I might not ultimately become a purchasing assistant—I could also be assigned as a plant affairs assistant or a shipping and receiving assistant, depending on how the plant manager distributed the positions. Is this a case of hiring people first and then assigning positions based on who lasts the longest? (Five new employees reported for work on the same day.)

2. To request leave, you have to walk to the security office to get a leave form, and there are even restricted hours for obtaining the form. You must get your supervisor’s approval before you can take leave!!! If an emergency occurs and you need to request leave, but it happens to be outside the hours for getting the form, does that mean you simply cannot take leave? What kind of rule is this?!

3. They provide a pile of scrap paper, and every week, every month, and every six months, you have to write reflection reports stating whether you can stay for five years. This is a typical traditional manufacturing company that wastes time making employees write these things. How much can this company actually offer to make people want to stay for five years?

Although they verbally claimed that the benefits were good, there were actually a whole lot of bizarre internal rules. I only stayed on site for three days, and two other new employees from the same intake had already quit!! Almost all the work on site is done by long-term employees. Apart from office positions, there probably aren’t many new employees who can stand staying here. It’s a closed-off company with vacancies that seem to remain open forever.
