The owner’s wife scheduled an interview but did not inform me that she would be delayed by another matter that day. When I arrived, I called her and only then did she tell me that the interview had been changed to one conducted by the owner himself. I then waited idly for nearly 45 minutes in a seat behind the counter. When the owner arrived for the interview, he was arrogant and spoke in a very impolite and impatient manner. I applied for the “Wedding Planner” position, but the owner told me that “the position had already been filled” and even mocked me, saying I shouldn’t let myself be constrained by that position. Aside from finding this completely baffling, I was told that the staff he needed would have to (although he never clarified what position was actually available) help at his newly opened seafood restaurant (丸勝水產) with cashiering, front-of-house duties, and various miscellaneous tasks involved in opening the business, while still being responsible for the duties normally expected of a wedding planner. It was a very confusing position—it seemed like they wanted an all-purpose odd-job worker while only offering basic pay.
I subsequently came up with an excuse to end the interview. I really felt that my time had been wasted.
None at all.
In 2018, I sent my résumé to this company through a job bank once a month for nearly half a year. On my résumé, I had repeatedly clearly stated my desired annual salary**, and this company had also opened and viewed my résumé, which clearly stated my salary expectations, multiple times.
In the second half of 2018, this company invited me to an interview in Zhongli several days before the agreed-upon time. After I arrived at Zhongli railway station that day, the company called to ask whether I had left yet (the caller said that the boss had not left yet). After I arrived at the interview location at the agreed-upon time, I was told to wait. After waiting for some time, the boss arrived for the interview. During the interview, when discussing my desired salary, I said that it was already clearly stated on my résumé and that I had sent it to the company several times. However, the company’s boss said: “I didn’t see any of it while I was abroad... Don’t talk to me about the two words ‘annual salary.’ Our industry is very poor...” What a supposedly amusing company!!
