Pros

The experience of interviewing with the same boss at Hao Hao was good; scheduling was quick, and the interview was also conducted promptly.

Cons

They repeatedly asked questions that had already been addressed in the Q&A email (such as my understanding of companies related to Hao Hao); they said the website stated that holiday shifts at the store were required, even though it clearly did not; after the interview, there was homework to complete (several pieces of copywriting plus meeting minutes from the interview.....)

Pros

The boss is an advertising director with a modest reputation in the industry. During interviews, he introduces many stories about the growth of advertising agencies and this company, while also promoting the boss’s heroic achievements in participating in triathlons. Therefore, employees are expected to be like triathletes: responsible in their work (often under an all-inclusive responsibility system) and in top physical condition (overtime pay is not provided for working overtime). The boss occasionally assigns tasks based on sudden whims; organizing events and working as movers are basic expectations. Product development and manufacturing go without saying: if sales are poor, it means you lack ability and need to be subjected to criticism; if sales are good, you get a pat on the head, followed by an impossibly high KPI threshold the next month. During the probationary period, part of your salary is also deducted, supposedly because the company is afraid employees will leave before completing three months; it will be returned in the fourth month. At the same time, the company instills a culture in which everything is considered training: accepting it means you are improving, while refusing means you are an incapable weakling. As a result, everyone has grievances but dares not speak up, and colleagues undermine one another because they all want to perform in front of the boss. It is terrifying.

Pros

The owner of this company is terrifying (a side business of a certain advertising director). I don’t know whether things are still the same now, but I worked at this company many years ago and submitted my resignation after one month (possibly even less). When you join, the company requires you to sign a contract and have a guarantor sign it before they will enroll you in labor and health insurance. My job was online marketing. My desk was together with the advertising department, and for many aspects my boss treated me the same way as the advertising department. She gave me a phone and required me to keep it on 24 hours a day, answer or show up whenever called, and go to the store on weekends to observe everyone’s work and familiarize myself with everything (of course, there was no overtime pay). If I didn’t show up, she would message me asking why; if I didn’t reply, she would ask me on Monday why I hadn’t replied =_= I didn’t want to continue after less than a month, so I made up an excuse and told her that my family wanted me to take the civil service exam, and I still got a lecture. When you first join, they also give you a folder describing how wonderful the boss is and how she participates in various triathlons and so on. Is the point that you’re supposed to become an ironman like her and be worked to the bone? The turnover is extremely high. Unless you have an iron liver and want to be worked to the bone, or don’t want to have any other life, you can give it a try. Oh, and the salary! For the first three months after I joined, I think it was NT$25,000. After three months, it became a base salary of NT$15,000 plus commission—so if things don’t sell well, that’s your problem; it has nothing to do with the design pricing! Isn’t that just wonderful?
