4. Quite a few good local eateries nearby
A toxic workplace.
They exploit newcomers and do not comply with the Labor Standards Act. Interns are paid 28 yuan per hour; even when working eight hours a day for a month, they receive only 5,400 in total.
Unrelated to the work, employees generally look below average and unappealing, with gloomy expressions. They often discuss where they have seen ghosts while at work and enthusiastically chat about communicating with the dead. One supervisor even “used” work hours to go downstairs to a café to enjoy drinks and music, then shared with us that they had seen a soul created by witchcraft?! What does that have to do with us at all?!
It seriously affects work.
Employees also often complain about the boss in the office. After complaining, they immediately make a fake, ingratiating call to Director Feng, inviting her to dinner; as soon as they hang up, they curse her again. If this had anything to do with me, I would definitely record it and send it to Sister Feng.
That former female supervisor, who looks a lot like a Filipina worker and is apparently suspected of having been fired, often summons employees for interviews for inexplicable reasons. Afterward, she even keeps smiling smugly, as if seeing other people sad and troubled were her source of pleasure. She is completely antisocial!!
There are far too many things to criticize.
Also, that place called Jizhouan is absolutely not a historic site. It is a fake historic site rebuilt 12 years ago. Even after a minor earthquake or rain, its components keep getting damaged or falling off, and it has to be repaired every few weeks. In contrast, thousand-year-old temples in Japan suffer no damage at all, regardless of wind or rain. That tells you which one is made of genuine materials, rather than being an excuse to deceive tourists.
No wonder Japanese people never come here—it's hilarious.
Please stop using that fake historic site to deceive people, and stop selling the extremely expensive and awful-tasting food next door. If the bookstore should close, just close it instead of struggling on. Its revenue is so low that it is laughable; any random beverage shop makes more money than you do every day.
Also, the office is basically full of unmarried women over 30 who are past their prime. They look completely unattractive, so no wonder they can only bully newly arrived part-time workers and interns here to cover up their own ugliness. Oh, sorry—not just their appearance; their inner selves are equally ugly as well.
If you think this place is very literary and artsy and are considering working here, I can only advise you to run, or find a way to sue this hellhole. It exploits employees in the long term, and there are serious internal conflicts. It appears calm on the surface, but is actually turbulent underneath. In particular, that planner, Weng, has the worst attitude. She is extremely polite when talking with customers, but as soon as she hangs up, she loudly curses the customers, saying this and that about them. The other employees even join in, which shows how low the standards are here. Don’t bring shame on Tzu Chi University, haha.
