Pros

The colleagues at the company were fairly friendly. After I finished writing the English-to-Chinese translation, they told me that the boss’s wife needed to wait a while before she could come.

Cons

I applied for an international trade sales position at the time (through 104). The company was located in a residential area, giving the impression that it was a combined home and office. At the beginning of the interview, I had to write an English email and translate it into Chinese. After that, I believe the interviewer was the boss’s wife. After asking about my previous two work experiences, she directly said that because I had only worked in export sales, I was not suitable for the position. I wanted to understand the reason further, but she did not seem interested in explaining; she only said that the company needed someone who knew how to handle import business. She even argued with the boss during the interview, and afterward said she had to go meet a client, bringing the interview to an abrupt end. Personally, I feel that aside from not carefully reviewing my résumé before the interview, the company also showed very little respect for interviewees.

Pros

Colleagues and the boss are very friendly, and you leave work on time.

Cons

During the interview, the boss’s wife kept asking very personal and stupid questions.

After I officially started working, the boss’s wife was very nice to me at first. She kept saying that I could learn a lot by working there and so on, but the company had no proper system for assigning work at all. Whenever something came up, they would just dump it on the employees below them. If the work was done well, she would take all the credit for herself; if something went wrong, she would only blame the employee.

At first, she would only hand you English documents and tell you to translate them, without teaching you anything else, leaving you sitting at your desk clueless about what to do. She would just keep saying, “If you don’t know how to do something, ask,” but the key point is that when you asked her, she would only say, “If you don’t know what that is, don’t touch it.”

The working environment was actually not very good. The boss’s wife would loudly berate the boss in front of the employees, and she would do the same while on the phone. The whole atmosphere was terrible.

When I later tried to resign, it became like a scene from a melodramatic TV drama. At first, the boss’s wife softened her attitude, but later she became very forceful and said that it did not comply with the regulations. In the end, the boss had the best attitude and hoped that I would not resign, but I really could not continue working in a place like that.
