A company that operates in a laissez-faire manner, with low starting salaries and high turnover. It likes to hire recent graduates with no experience and has no well-established systems; everything is done according to the boss’s mood.
(1) Salary: The starting salary is usually only NT$25,000–28,000. Even if you work hard and become a department manager, the salary is only NT$34,000.
(2) Position: There is no clear promotion system, and job titles are merely for show. Because turnover is so high, anyone who stays long enough can become a manager. However, even in a high-ranking position, you still have to consider the attitudes of long-time employees who have been with the company for more than ten years.
(3) Benefits: The only benefit is a birthday cash gift. If business operations are good, the year-end bonus is one month’s salary; if operations are poor, it is only NT$2,000.
(4) Job responsibilities: If you apply for an engineering position, the work will be fairly straightforward. If you apply for an administrative position, you will usually be responsible for documents, marketing, planning, sales, expense reimbursements, and a whole range of other miscellaneous tasks. Overtime on weekdays and holidays is the norm. Although the boss will give you compensatory leave, the company will usually still call you on your days off, and there is no overtime pay. You will only receive a “Thank you for your hard work” from the boss to help replenish your energy.
(5) Systems: Regardless of the position you are responsible for, all matters, large and small, must be reported to the boss for a decision. Supervisors have no decision-making authority. It is an extremely flat company.
(6) Other: Although the boss always says that the company can help fresh graduates develop their abilities and learn skills in different areas, in reality, it simply makes you perform multiple roles. The boss comes from a software sales background and is highly capable in sales, but very weak in other areas, so they cannot provide employees with good direction. Decisions are often changed abruptly. Although you will not be reprimanded if things go wrong, it genuinely wastes employees’ valuable time. If you are someone who wants to work hard and advance your career, this company is not recommended.
