Pros

I worked at this company when it was still in Taipei. Although the company has moved, the owner has not changed, so the pros, cons, and current situation I share should not be very different.

In the past, interviews for positions of all levels, large or small, were conducted by the owner personally. I do not know whether this is still the case, but interviews with the owner are definitely required for positions in the marketing department. The owner came from Wei Chuan's marketing division, so the company is marketing-oriented and likes to hire fresh graduates. For people who lack experience but want to become consumer products PMs, it is an excellent opportunity, since most companies still prefer to hire experienced candidates.

In the marketing department, the owner basically provides hands-on guidance, so there are many opportunities to interact with him. He also regularly leads reading groups. The owner has an exceptionally keen sense of products and markets and has developed quite a few successful brands. He is also willing to give young people room to try things and will not fire or punish you simply because you make a mistake or fail. The owner has his own distinctive views on marketing, and Bifido's approach to developing products and bringing them to market is also a unique school of thought. If you are fortunate enough to join the company, you can learn a great deal, which will be very helpful both in life and in your future career.

Marketing work places relatively more emphasis on new product development. Daily work also involves preparing many reports, and there are many meetings. However, PMs themselves do not control the budget; budget control rests with the owner. Nor are they directly responsible for brand performance. In the past, the owner only ran television advertising (this has probably changed, as the company has started doing some digital advertising), and the company did not do much advertising or many consumer activities in other areas.

Because the owner personally places an extremely strong emphasis on marketing, there are relatively few internal communication barriers. For young people who are observant, have ideas about products, want to learn quickly, and want to achieve results within a short period, this is an excellent opportunity and a job worth taking on as a challenge.

Cons

Because the owner started the company independently about 20 years ago, he is relatively cautious with resources. In short, he is quite tight with money. Of course, he does not hesitate to make necessary investments such as advertising, but he exercises more control over hardware equipment such as computers. You may end up using old equipment that surprises you. Also, as mentioned in the pros, the owner places great importance on marketing, so compared with other departments or positions, you have to accommodate marketing to a greater extent.

New hires do not receive high salaries, although compensation may be adjusted if they achieve results. Also, as mentioned in the pros, the owner is a very perceptive marketing professional, so comparatively, he tends to trust his own judgment more. Of course, he is not impossible to persuade, but some people may consider him stubborn or set in his opinions.

The owner is a talented and ambitious leader, so he wants to try many things. However, if there are no results in the short term, he can also give up easily. In short, you cannot expect the company to invest in a product or brand over the long term and gradually build it up; if it does not succeed on the first attempt, it will be discontinued. All of these characteristics have both advantages and disadvantages—it depends on how you weigh them.

The owner is a Pisces, so he has some romantic, artistic qualities. He values personal relationships, but he is also a pragmatic businessman. If you want to be valued, you must demonstrate your own worth. After leaving the company, I remained in the same industry for a long time, and what I learned at Bifido continues to benefit me to this day. I also regard the owner as a benefactor in my life. Overall, I believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, and it is a good company for young people to try.

Pros

None

Cons

There is fundamentally no such thing as morning, afternoon, or night shifts.

The end-of-work time is also not fixed, completely different from what was said when I applied.

At meetings, they even openly said that the Labor Standards Act is only for reference and does not apply to factories like ours. What utter bullshit.

Pros

The company is reputable, and all benefits comply with the Labor Standards Act. There are also bonuses of around NT$1,000–2,000 for each of the three major holidays. Compared with the industry, the salary is quite good—especially for Taichung. The company atmosphere is good, and there are many young employees. However, since the company is located in Taichung, there are not that many applicants. It is a marketing-driven company, so the pressure is correspondingly high. New products are launched every year, making the work fulfilling and worth taking on as a challenge. During busy seasons, employees leave around 7 or 8 p.m.; during slower periods, leaving after 6 p.m., or even promptly at 5:30 p.m., is fine. There is also no situation where you cannot leave until your supervisor has gone home. Overall, I recommend it. Talented people are welcome to join Bifido! —By a minor colleague at the company
