Pros

When you have free time, you can zone out and have plenty of time to yourself. Snacks are available at around 4 p.m., and there are lots of standard cookies. Although it may seem rather bleak, having something to eat is better than nothing. The gym is too poor to count as a benefit; after going once, you won’t want to go again...

Cons

Cameras cover the entire ceiling. Since the company is in the surveillance business, installing them in the office is understandable for testing purposes, but there is correspondingly little privacy. There is no overtime pay, but you can submit an application for it—just understand what that means.

This is a good place to build your skills if you’re interested in the surveillance industry, but don’t expect much in terms of benefits. The internal environment is filled with cameras, which feels awful. The company operates under a military-style system: whenever you go out or take leave, you must send an email so the entire department knows. In some departments, the atmosphere is so rigid that employees don’t even dare take out their phones, let alone use their work computers. The seating is arranged in an L-shaped layout, making it easy to see everything when someone walks by. Most of the internal staff are senior employees, so there is less of a youthful atmosphere.

Pros

Pros: Some managers are fairly easy to communicate with. Relations among colleagues are also fairly harmonious.

Cons

Cons

I worked for AndroVideo, a subsidiary of Jondar Technology. I previously worked in sales at this company, where the person above me was the sales VP; currently, there is only one sales manager. Personally, I had a very poor impression of this manager, M, who previously worked at Qualcomm. The reasons are as follows:

1. People are expected to be available or respond on Line 24 hours a day, including weekends. If you do not work overtime, you may be fired; even leaving work on time may get you fired. You are expected to be his personal assistant and salesperson 24 hours a day, while also not competing with him for sales results. You must accommodate him and empathize with him at all times, understand him, and understand the traps he sets for subordinates.

2. He treats subordinates like dogs. He assigns tasks he cannot do himself to others, bullies people with less power, and has an extremely domineering attitude.

3. Business entertaining is normal. However, drinking until you are completely drunk and vomiting everywhere, then being unable to come to work the next day, may not be tolerated. When you help him home and he vomits everywhere, the general manager may even ask you to clean up his vomit. Then no one will thank you, because he was so drunk that he remembers nothing.

4. He is extremely demanding and a control freak. He wants to review almost everything, and everything must be completed at the last minute. If it is not completed, you have to work overtime, and then he tells you that he is teaching you. :-)

5. Basically, I feel very sorry for this VP, because when the general manager, the technical director, and I helped him home last time, we learned that he actually had no one to take care of him and was living alone after moving out. The reason is not important. What I sympathize with is that he may have been treated this way throughout his sales career, so he treats his subordinates the same way when managing people. It is understandable why he left Qualcomm to join a startup with only 30 employees. He has always worked in sales and had never been a manager before; I should have been his first guinea pig. If the product is poor or not well prepared, you have to rely on drinking to win business, and the general manager is also happy to have someone help him take the drinks.

6. The general manager claims to take an impartial view of the people below him, but listens entirely to direct supervisors. As long as a direct supervisor says someone is not good, the general manager will think that person is not good. For this reason, I do not think the general manager of this company values talent; he probably does not have time to value talent either.

7. Minimum wage.

In conclusion, I do not recommend joining AndroVideo (AndroVideo) as a Sales employee. If you do decide to join, I hope you will avoid that manager M, who previously worked at Qualcomm and drank so much that he could not come to work the next day, because in addition to having to clean up his vomit, you will also be treated very unfairly by him.

As for R&D, based on my own experience, I found the technical director to be very capable. This may also be why the general manager does not care about PMs or non-technical personnel. I believe new R&D employees can learn a lot from working here, but I still strongly advise against sales unless the VP is replaced.
